Upon entry, I was very impressed with the ambiance of Great Heart – I think of it a charming, elevated version of a beer hall. Beautiful location aside, our service and food were excellent. I highly recommend the pretzel, accompanied by the beer cheese and quark with herbs.

You can tell the owners and staff put a lot of focus on providing a kind and welcoming experience.

The German-Alpine fusion was definitely interesting and we look forward to returning, soon!

Party of 4 enjoyed quick seating and attentive service around 4:30 pm 10/19/25. Beautiful new building with logo wear in entryway, large seating area on first floor inclusive of bar and huge, attractive copper storage vessel which held beer. Two large screen tv’s were located one on each end of the bar for sports viewing as desired.
!

Mostly couples, at least 3 families with children were present and well-behaved. A large party of ten was seated as we were leaving. What sounded like German marches in the mood of Oktoberfest were played in the background, which I found entertaining, but another member of my party did not. There was upper level and “Biergarten” which we did not explore.
Others in my party ordered satisfying, high protein, high fiber mussels in a tomato sauce with a side salad. A cook herself who is health-conscious, she loved the taste and the healthy option. Others in my party ate a 8 piece shrimp cocktail followed by slowly braised, extremely tender beef goulash and spaetzle with buttery sauce and the fourth member had extremely tender chicken schnitzel and Bavarian style potato salad with a pleasant tang to it. Two ordered pleasantly rich ice cream, one espresso, another vanilla. Two ordered beer, one Weiss, another Helles.
We all laughed and talked and enjoyed the service of our waiter, host, hostess and bartender in this lovely facility. Adding this to our list of haunts

We are SO glad someone told us about Great Heart Brewing Company! We had been looking for German food in St. Louis, and here it is! The owners, John & Helena, are a delightful young couple. I enjoyed talking about St. Louis and the World’s Fair with Helena. The beer and food are fabulous! We had Kaesespaetzle & Pork Schnitzel with Apple Strudel for dessert. I asked for mine without the cream, & it was delicious that way, too! We will definitely come back next time we’re in St. Louis!

A great place for a special dinner. A bit fancy for my normal taste, and the service was more relaxed si you could enjoy the environment. The food was all freshly prepared so that always takes a bit more time but its worth it if you’re not in a hurry. Great German food and beer!!

We had a late lunch at Great Heart Brewing Co. near St. Louis after finding it on Resy, and it was a fantastic experience.
Everything on the menu looked so good that we ended up ordering far more food than two people could finish. The Weisswurst Fruehstueck was excellent, especially with the sweet mustard. We also loved the Bavarian pretzels with Obazda and herbed quark — the pretzels were good, but the dips were outstanding. The Bratwurst was solid, and the sauerkraut was delicious. The clear standout was the Pork Schnitzel, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
The only dish that didn’t quite meet our expectations was the Spaetzle. The cheese was mixed in rather than sprinkled on top, which made it taste more like mac and cheese than traditional spaetzle. It was still good, just different from what we’re used to at a German restaurant.
The beer was excellent, and we would have happily ordered more if we weren’t so full. Our server was great — attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. Overall, we highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

Great Hart Brewing is a wonderful spot to experience a slice of Germany in St. Louis. The lively atmosphere, friendly service, and classic touches like a cold German beer paired with a fresh pretzel make it a fun place to gather. The food is good, but what really shines is the authentic experience they’ve created. It feels like stepping into a German beer hall without leaving town. A great place to bring friends and share something different.

Great Heart Brewing is an absolute standout in every way. From the moment you walk in, the cleanliness and attention to detail are impossible to miss. Tables are spotless, the silverware gleams, and the glasses come out crystal clear — a small but telling sign of the pride they take in their service.

The food is just as impressive. You can taste the quality in every bite — clean, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. One of the biggest selling points for me is that they’ve committed to removing seed oils from their kitchen. That kind of care for ingredients and customer health is rare and incredibly appreciated.

The staff is welcoming, the beer is excellent, and the overall vibe is laid-back but elevated. Great Heart Brewing doesn’t just serve food and drinks — they set a new standard for what a great dining experience should feel like in STL. Highly recommend.
