Reviews
Jerk chicken – so tender and good on the salt. Get extra jerk sauce on the side. SO
Brown Stew chicken – bussin’ flavor was so good. And so freaking tender
Rice – it was cooked to the right conistency. I think it could’ve had more seasoning, but with the sauces from the meat it balanced it out
Mac and cheese – it was very yummy, but kind of Americanized. Flavor was good and pairs well with the meal
Cabbage – Run don’t walk! This was sooo good.
Plantain – I could eat 100 of these in one sitting. So
Overall, I am so satisfied. It was affordable and the customer service was great and welcoming!
This will be my new go to spot as it is only 10 minutes away from me. I get picky about my caribbean food and prefer it home cooked but this will definitely do.
God loves me and you so much ❤️
Today though, I experienced terrible service and a highly unprofessional response from the owner. I placed an online order at 5:02 with a text stating it would be ready at 5:32. I figured it wouldn’t actually be ready at that time, so instead arrived a little after 6pm. I was told they were still working on my food and to come back in 15 minutes. I didn’t leave work my order until 6:43 and at that point asked to speak to the manager. After expressing my frustration and hoe unprofessional the experience has been, his response was to tell me “I wish you would understand that we were slammed bruh”. I was utterly in shock. I just shared that my experience was unprofessional and that I wouldn’t return, and this was your response! He offered me a beverage to “make it right”.
You lost a loyal customer tonight.
My husband joked that we should get Caribbean food. I looked and was surprised there was Caribbean-ish food so close to us. The menu looked great, so we decided to order dinner.
We each ordered the 2 meat/2 side dinner. The photo shown is a little less than half of my food. I had the white meat jerk chicken along with the chicken stew meat. It comes with 2 sides but I wanted to try their other sides so I ordered a couple extra. The white meat is an up-charge. The amount of food was very generous. We each only ate half of our food.
I’m no Caribbean food expert but I know what tastes good, and this food tasted good. The chicken was tender and nicely seasoned. My husband got the jerk and fried chicken. He enjoyed the fried chicken as well. He said the yams were really good too. We each had Mac and cheese, pretty standard but good. I also had extra sides to try. I thought the rice was really good as was the Cabbage. The plantains were perfectly cooked too.
I’m not sure if it’s authentic or not, but I do know that the food is good. We both enjoyed it and will be back again.
The atmosphere is really nice as they have a big painting of Bob Marley, and they also have all the Chicago Spot Teams’ logos painted on their walls. It’s very clean in there and the reggae music played brings the island vibes.
But they put their foot in that 16 hour cooked jerk brisket tacos, they gave lots of meat and it was very flavorful, not salty at all. The jerk sauce taste really nice also. The sauce is a little sweet with a little heat. I Can’t wait to go back and try more food from them!
