Featuring local Hawaiian dishes, the food is pretty good. Chicken, beef, ribs, rice, macaroni salad, etc. I love Hawaiian food and this is a great place to get some.
Service is a bit slow as preparing some of the dishes requires time to put them together properly. Order ahead if you’re in a hurry.
The dining room and open design and the tables are reasonably spaced. There’s plenty of room to relax and enjoy a meal.
The parking lot is small. Around meal times, I suspect the lot can get full. Additional parking is available behind the restaurant and requires a short walk.
The driveways to the parking lot might be difficult to navigate for larger vehicles. Be careful entering and exiting the parking lot as traffic moves pretty fast.
I went for the BBQ Beef Bowl and paid extra for it to be topped with an egg and some gravy. The gravy was way too salty – kinda tasted like a concentrate that they forgot to dillute – which provided a stark contrast to the completely unseasoned mushy vegetables. The beef was okay, but there were a few tough, chewy pieces and a couple of big chunks of gristle.
My wife’s Katsu Chicken had a nice crispy breading, but the meat was dry and a little gray around the edges. The macaroni was room temperature and dry.
Gyoza were decent, but we paid way too much to get some subpar cafeteria food in styrofoam (we dined in). Definitely won’t be back.
*update*
I have come back and edited the score because now my wife and I have food poisoning. Definitely 10/10 do NOT recommend.
The food was not good. The lumpia had no flavor and was a bit soggy. The chicken and mac salad also lacked flavor.
Would not recommend as the food and service could be way better. I’d also like to note we were the only customers in store so I am truly lost as to how we were treated.
Used to go to L & L when I lived in Hawai’i. So yes, this is authentic. Also been to a few in California a few times. So I was so happy to hear there were local spots in SA.
My go to….loco moco every time. If you don’t know it. 2 beef patties on top of white rice with gravy and eggs on top. With a scoop of Mac salad.
It was ono licious !!! Superb. The mac salad is historic. The rice. The patties. All of it!! Same as in Hawai’i.
Add a passion fruit guava drink. Ohhh myyy!!
They also have other delicious meals like chicken katsu and teriyaki beef or chicken. You can’t get me away from the loco moco.
Try it ..tell me it’s not awesome !!
