We had an amazing meal here with a group of 8. I had chicken piccata which was great, others had chicken parm, veal piccata and pasta. The appetizers were delicious-we had calamari, which was not fried and the beet salad. The bruschetta was also fantastic. For dessert we had lava cake, our favorite, and tiramisu, so good! The bread they served was also amazing, I think focaccia, and someone told me they make it in house. Staff was so friendly and helpful too and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun.

Wonderful ambience , Delicious Italian food and friendly staff . Their dessert is to die for and they have many varieties of drinks also. Our go to place for Italian good is north end in Boston but this place is definitely giving a high competition to all the Italian restaurant in Boston . Top notch food , clean ambience , feeling of fine dine environment. I highly highly recommend this place to all the Italian food lovers . Can’t wait to come back again and enjoy meal with my fav boys !!

First time we have visited Rufina’s. The girls like to eat out and we look forward to trying new places. We’re Italian, we like eating Italian, and the website and menu looked good enough to want to try it. The bar is small and gets more patrons than we saw in the two dining room areas. The waitress was quick to serve us water and take our non-alcoholic beverage order, which came quickly. She brought bread soon after (which the texture was odd. It seemed undercooked or maybe its meant to be REALLY dense/heavy?). She was sure to mention that there was a ‘huge’ party in the back area (we saw maybe 10 people), who took more time and attention to serve, understandably. We waited probably about 30-40 min. for a drink from the bar. We waited more than an hour for our food. We took our first bites and none of us liked what we tasted. One dish was not recognizable as a saltimbocca and the other dishes had a very weird, sort of burnt flavor to the sauce. After a second bite, it seemed like the sauce pan burnt and was scraped a bit which left some tiny black flecks in the sauce. The waitress apologized and said she would get the owner. But he/she was the one doing the cooking and never came to our table. We’ve eaten at MANY italian places from Boston to New Hampshire to New York. Never have we ever sent food back and left a restaurant without eating. Disappointing all around. Lucky for us we were in a plaza with a little pizza joint at the other end and we stopped in there to eat a meal instead.

Who is rating this place? I don’t want to sink a restaurant but this was awful. The food is bland at best. The service was rushed and hostile. The ambiance is severely lacking.
I got the fig salad to start. I enjoyed the candied nuts but the feta came from a pre-crumbled package and had no flavor.
Then I got the veal saltimbocca. I’m not sure there was actually any sage. The sauce was so flavorless that the pasta just tasted like buttered noodles. I left them all behind.
At one point my son interrupted my wife as she was ordering and the waitress yelled at her. Our friend who was eight months pregnant made a joke about having a drink and the waitress brought it to her even though she clearly said she was just kidding.
The wine list is awful. The cocktails aren’t good. The only reason not to give them one star is the veal parm which was solid. So if that’s all you are going for, ok. But nothing else our party had was worth eating or drinking.

Cozy and casual mom and pop style Italian restaurant in small strip mall near the Chelmsford-Carlisle line. Daily specials in addition to all the Italian favorites. Friendly service. Popular for take out, too. Ample parking in a shared lot. Recommended.

It should be so much better. My wife didn’t eat her bolognese. That should have been obvious, but it wasn’t mentioned. Nobody asked. I only ate half of my saltimbocca. The meatball appetizer was fine. Staff talks to you from 20 feet away across the tables of other patrons. At least there’s an attempt at nice-casual but it falls woefully short.

Old school Italian in a cozy setting. The bread is a wonderful start to the meal. House made Italian dressing that’s the perfect mix of zesty and flavorful and some of the best lava cakes I’ve had.
