To be honest, I stumbled across this place. But was pleasantly surprised. First off the host was amazing , very helpful with the menu. I got the beef and broccoli as my first dish there and it truly didn’t disappoint. No egg rolls, only spring rolls which is ok. I will be visiting again!

Food tastes very authentic. It’s probably the best place to go if you’re looking for an inexpensive large serving authentic Chinese food. Other Chinese restaurant has already adjusted their food to accommodate all culture taste buds but this one taste just like back in Asia. This place is more of a carry out. Dine in is possible but just not very vibrant atmosphere. Just note that the soups are not for one person unless you love soup that much. Probably good for 2-3 people cup

I’ve visited this place so many times over the past 10 years. Ignore the dated strip plaza environment and generic interior and focus on the food. IMHO that’s where this place shines because to me it so very authentic…well as close as you can get outside mainland China. It’s the type of place where grandma might be outside in the eating area preparing vegtables. Don’t expect perfect english speaking waiters…but who cares. For me I like to ignore everything else and just focus on the savory goodness. Last note, whenever I have friends visit from mainland China and I take them here their enthusiasm is evident. If you’re up for some more authentic eats give this place a try. The menu is fairly wide too.

First time visiting for lunch with my fiance. We found this little gem! It was a small dining room and most tables were full. The tea was great and the server was pleasant. Everything was fresh. We had the General Tao chicken and the Ginger Scallion beef. Large shrimp in the fried rice. We will surely be back.

I have been looking for an actual “good” Chinese take out. As most Chinese in the Royal oak, Ferndale, Oak park area are bellow average bland Chinese. I got word that Madison heights has some great Chinese spots so I gave Chao Zhou a chance and I was immediately hooked. You can taste the quality in this food.

Chao Zhou sticks out from the rest and is something I can definitely recommend people try. Probably the best General Tao’s chicken I’ve had in a long time. The Singapore noodles was another stand out option that I also loved.

I will definitely be back

The food was delicious. They have sit down. The vegetables were fresh and sauces not over powering. The meat was tender not over cooked.. The menu was excellent for a small restaurant . We enjoyed the meal and will return

Service was a tad slow, but our waitress was attentive when we needed her attention. Atmosphere was just ok, not amazing, but not the absolute worst. The restaurant mainly had Chinese people, which was comforting because if Chinese people came to eat here, it means that the food is probably actually decent.

The food was the best part here. I came here with my white husband, and I told him I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious flavor of the tea they served us while we waited.

We got our appetizer of pork bao buns, which were yummy. My husband got his beef brisket noodle soup not long after while I had to wait a bit longer for my fried rice and orange chicken to come. The fried rice was just ok, and the orange chicken was pretty good, considering it seemed like they used orange rind in the sauce. My husband was mind blown over the portion of my food since I also got an egg roll with my meal for $13! It was huge, enough to cover like 1-2 more meals.

Overall, it is a decent Chinese restaurant.

GREAT little “whole in the wall” next to plenty of other Asian stores, restaurants and a bakery.

Food was good for the price as were the portions. Service is typical. They seem to be more authentic than most which explains the robust flavors and very fresh appearance. What a treat to have seen bean sprouts in the fried rice at the next table. Something I rarely see outside of large cities like Detroit.

I’m just happy they have chickens feet and fried intestines with chili, something I can’t get back home in Youngstown.

I ordered a shrimp chow mein. I don’t normally order this. sweet and sour, almond boneless chicken, or beef and broccoli are my go to items at a Chinese restaurant. I felt like trying something different. I also was feeling shrimp.
the noodles are overpriced and crispy at the edges, and soft under the sauce. I don’t order this enough to know if that’s just common for this dish.
the sauce is good. not too many onions to slide out. the bok choy isn’t bad, but idk
the texture of it just not doing it for me. there also wasn’t a tea option.
maybe I should have just got a beef and broccoli with crab ragoons.
