You know the drill by now, so if I’m here writing a review then it was amazing or it wasn’t. This is a complicated review for me, because the service is always amazing!!! I can’t emphasize that part enough, because the times that I’ve tried it the staff has always been top tier. However, the food is not as amazing as the staff.
Let’s get into Linda’s at this moment right now. I feel like I need another meal. The chicken was soft and mushy. I could understand if they were on the Kernels original recipe steeze as inspiration. However, it is a big sad no. I can see that the seasoning is almost at a win.
On to the fish… it was better than the chicken and if it was crisper then it would be better. I forgot to ask for condiments and they didn’t put any in the bag.
Finally, I will move on to the sides and give you the heads up. The mac & cheese was mostly dry, bland, not good. I ordered cabbage and it had more flavor, but I still wouldn’t recommend it. It did smell good, which had me hype, but confused about how mid the whole meal ultimately ended up being.
Honestly, I want a refund, because I have to get another meal. The whole meal was very disappointing and not good. I got my meal to go or I would’ve asked for a refund on the spot. I’m home and sad that my treat to myself wasn’t good at all.
Linda’s, I will tell you that you can’t ask for a nicer more professional staff. The people dining in seemed happy, so I don’t know how to totally call this experience. This is the second time that I’ve come & the food experience was hit & miss.
I think you should proceed with caution in dining here. I had a dine in experience, which was a mixed bag & a to go experience that left a lot to be desired. It has been months in between visits and I am still at a loss, because I want to love it. Again, Linda’s roll the dice at your own risk. This review is for the Soul Food Bites in Frisco. Linda’s is simply how I start my reviews for the people requesting it.
Also, our dessert got delayed and we went and found an employee. He immediately brought us our dessert, apologized and offered us a free slice of cake for each of us to make up for our wait. We didn’t take him up on it, but will def be trying the cake next time.
These people know what they are doing. Go try them. You won’t be sorry. Just plan on an extra day at the gym! lol
But the service experience was rough. I placed a to-go order at 4:30 PM and didn’t leave until 5:45 PM. After getting a text that my food was ready, I found out it had been given to someone else by mistake. A kind young man from the kitchen remade my $145 order, but it added another 30–45 minutes to my wait.
The owner acknowledged the issue and offered a $76 refund, which I appreciated, but honestly, the whole order should’ve been comped.
On the bright side, the atmosphere is a chill vibe — blues music, beautiful murals, a nice bar, and friendly staff. Huge shoutout to Zyh’aire, who was patient, professional, and smiling through it all. She and the staff member in the kitchen would be the reason I’d consider giving this place another shot.
Bottom line: amazing food and great atmosphere. A more organized to-go system — one that verifies names and receipts before handing out orders — would go a long way in improving the customer experience. If they fix the to-go system, they’ll have something truly special and would be the hang out on the weekends.
So I love the atmosphere and vibe in the place and look forward to coming back to visit. They will still need to get better with order taking maybe have two registers or keep a host at the front where that is their only job to greet and ensure people are happy and comfortable before taking their order.
