Felt I was in France once again!
Such a friendly and humourous bunch of waiters and waitresses. Food was great, I had the Soupe à L’oignon Gratinée and Magret de Canard Sauce à l’Orange.
Terry had Escargots au Beurre and a steak number! Followed by dessert (in photo).

We were mostly underwhelmed and somewhat disappointed when recently visiting for the first time.
The menu was ok, and dishes were well presented (as seen in the attached photos). But all the dishes lacked flavour, to the point of being bland.
And when I found myself biting into a plum seed in my beef dish, instead of acknowledging that it was hazardous and shouldn’t have been present, the waiter just confirmed that plum was an ingredient.
We really wanted to like this restaurant, but we won’t be returning any time soon.

Dining at Franco Belge always feels like a treat, whether for a casual meal or a special occasion. The food and service are consistently excellent accompanied with a lovely selection of wines and perfectly mixed cocktails. Special mentions (according to me): the french onion soup, mussels, scallops, duck and steak dishes are delicious! The desserts – amazing! We feel very spoilt that this gem is located in our neighbourhood!

We seriously loved everything we tried but the snails in basil? Next level. So packed with flavor, garlicky and fresh, I could’ve eaten like five plates of those alone. Then there was the lamb just so tender it practically melted in my mouth. And don’t get me started on the beef tartare, which was fresh and zingy, totally hitting all the right notes.
But the real showstopper? The slow-cooked pork with pickled cabbage. Juicy, rich pork with that tangy crunch from the cabbage? Just heavenly.
The vibe at Franco Belge was cozy and just the right mix of casual and fancy. The server was so wonderful and even suggested us what to try and order. Perfect spot if you want to treat yourself without any fuss.

I’m SO glad I found this delightful and delicious restaurant. I chose it to dine at for my birthday dinner last night and couldn’t be more happy with my choice. It did not disappoint from the second we stepped foot inside, to the moment we left.
After almost breaking out into fights for parking spaces in the adjacent car park, we eventually made it to the restaurant and was impressed right off the bat by the cute entryway, to the gorgeous interior decor, to the menu, to the friendly staff, to the food and to everything.
The menu is quite varied. There are some great items to chose from in both hot and cold entrees and the main meals have a lot of options for both fish and meats and the dessert menu also has a few great options.
Everyone loved their meals. The French Onion soup was divine, the salmon salad was HEAVENLY, the meats cooked perfectly, the vol-au-vent was super yum and the chocolate mousse was totally delicious and tasted home made (just missing a little bit of rum, lol).
Based on how good the food was and the service and decor, we will definitely, definitely be back again and will recommend this to anyone that asks for suggestions. The only negative was the busy and tight spaced parking lot adjacent to them as it was beyond hectic, and the street parking fills up because of the movies and how the council has taken away so many parking spaces for outdoor dinning (infuriating), but if you come with plenty of time to find a spot, you’ll be fine.

I have been curious about this restaurant, so I have decided to book for lunch to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
I highly recommend the escargot dish, it’s the best I had, soft and flavoursone with garlic and butter.

Beyond expectation. Food was really lovely and very good portion. We ordered too many and left no room for dessert! Steak Tartar was so refreshing, every single one of the 6 of us enjoyed it so much. Mussels were seasoned very well, too. Rib eye for 2 was cooked just right for medium. Beer on tap tastes good, too.
Service was attentive and welcoming.
