We visited Takai by Kashiba for a family dinner and enjoyed an omakase experience. Overall, the quality of the ingredients, execution, and the refined atmosphere were excellent. The progression of the courses felt thoughtful and well-paced, and the chef’s intent was clearly reflected in each piece.
That said, the seasoning was a bit on the stronger side for our personal taste. Since the sushi follows a traditional Edomae style with pre-seasoned fish, the saltiness tended to build up toward the latter half of the meal. Those who prefer lighter seasoning may want to keep this in mind.
Still, it’s a great choice for a special occasion, and I would gladly return—next time requesting a slightly lighter seasoning on the rice.

Amazing omakase experience. The omakase consisted of 18 smaller sized nigiris which allowed you to try an array of different fish/seafood. The sardine and Chu-toro were the stand outs for me. Good portion of food. Come hungry. I would go again if in the area.

This is a wonderful Omakase Sushi restaurant with traditional Japanese sushi.
They seat 10 people at the Omakase counter at one time (so if any of the party of 10 are late, they will hold until every is seated – even if they are not part of your group). Don’t be late though, because after 15 minutes, they will start without you and cancel your reservation.
Believe me, you don’t want to be late, because the sushi here is quite amazing. I like traditional style sushi, not the fusion styles that seem popular today.
There were 23 (!) dishes total, so you will be completely satisfied by the end of the meal.
Service was impeccable, and the chef and staff were all very professional and friendly.
Don’t miss this Omakase experience!

The omakase was of my most favorite dining experiences of all time. Chef Jun is a national treasure, the food is 1000/10 and the service is unmatched. Worth every penny!

Wow! Not locals but as guests they treated us with 5 stars. For us, the presentation and quality of ingredients was top tier. We appreciated the story, the flavors, and the care they put into each bite. We also tried the sake/champagne pairing and couldn’t have been more pleased. Overall, having visited Japan just last year, we have to say they unequivocally represented this time of year well with the flavors and pairings. Thank you for treating us so well. If we happen to be back in the area, we will be sure to visit again. Thank you!

As a big fan of seafood/sushi, this place was one of the top 5 for high-quality food.
The craziest part is that their service was on top. I wish I had asked our server’s name to give her credit but she was so respectful, attentive, and informative. We felt very welcome to dine in at this restaurant.

We came here for our anniversary and it was a really nice experience. Staff were friendly, though the front desk girl looked a bit serious and kinda intimidated me at first . Chef Takai has a chill vibe — not super talkative but not cold either, and he warmed up more as the meal went on. I liked most of the fish, felt like the aging was done well and had good flavor. I liked how he adjusted it depending on the piece. Personally I would’ve liked just a little more seasoning on the rice, but overall I had 23 pieces and felt satisfied. Solid omakase spot.

Wow! Just wow!
So glad I opted for the omakaze and sat at the whiskey bar.
Great food, great conversations with the bartender/director of operations, perfectly paired with amazing sake.
Very happy.

I finally got to try Takai by Kashiba and overall had a really enjoyable experience. I did the omakase, but sat at a table rather than the counter. While I missed out on the chef interaction, the staff still made sure everything was smooth and well-paced.
The fish was incredibly fresh — the kind of quality you immediately notice. My favorite, as always, was the toro. Every piece was carefully prepared, and by the end of the meal, I was very full (in a good way). It’s definitely a generous omakase for the price!

The food (dinner box) is mediocre at best, and this is what they give you as otoro in the dinner box. Sure, understand it’s $100 sushi box i shouldn’t have high expectations for otoro, but don’t use dinner box as means to deal with leftovers. You can tell the sashimi they give you is left unwanted for days on the first bite. Good business model, bad customer experience, disasters to my palate.
