This was our first time experience at umai and the dining experience blew our expectations away. Absolutely fantastic. 10/10 through and through. The sushi alone was nothing but exceptional and the service was so warm and welcoming. Price point was spectacular for the quality and portions. I would 100% recommend.

If one word sums our experience- WOW! This family owned business shows hospitality from start to finish. The atmosphere is clean, quaint, and one that is very welcoming.

Locals who walked in were well recognized by the friendly owners- you could tell they have many repeat customers 🙂 that’s no surprise, given how absolutely fresh and delicious their food is!

Thank you for crafting our food with care and providing such an enjoyable experience. We look forward to continuing our visits here!

Amazing quality food. Each dish has great balance, texture, and flavor. The sushi was so fresh. We were surprised that the sashimi platter had mackerel sashimi, which is a rarity due to the difficulty of keeping it fresh. Love the chefs here and the servers too. Would definitely go out of my way to come here again.

Always my best and the first choice of VIP guest. You may feel how good quality of fish they got supply and make the best taste is. Family owned and cozy. Please simply order “Omakase” course at special day. Then the shelf will surprise you.

Outstanding! From the warm greeting when you walk in the door from Chef Rae, his wife & team, to every delicate and delectable sushi, sashimi morsel presented so beautifully. It’s a wonderful weekly meal & experience! (ok sometimes more than once a week )

Top notch establishment with a top notch staff! I’ve never left Umai disappointed or hungry! This place is definitely worth trying out if you are in the area – they have a great sushi menu with plenty of options and the food is always awesome. I highly recommend giving them a shot!

My friend told me that this place is the last place that she wants to eat before she dies.

I was here with my wife on the late night of a typical Wednesday. No one was there because we arrived almost at 9 pm but they greeted us nicely. All the waitstaff and sushi man was very friendly and welcoming even though we were late.

We had $65 omakase. It is most we spent on sushi but we didn’t doubt the quality of the dishes. The head chef aka owner gave us tons of foods. I never felt more full in a Japanese restaurant just eating sushi and sashimi.
From start to end, we were amazed by how fresh and tasty all the foods were. My wife was wowing every time she had a bite. The owner explained and educated us nicely about the fishes and how he prepared it. Listening to his short life story was very entertaining as well.

Overall, it was one of the best experiences we had. We are from NYC and we travel a lot to eat in great restaurants. This place is must go place if you are a sushi-sashimi lover but know that it is not cheap as your everyday Japanese restaurant.
I definitely will come back to try different dishes.
Highly recommended. Thank you, chef and other staff, to give us a memorable experience!

Cute little place but OOOH so delicious !! We went early…. Good thing, it got mega crowded by 7pm !! Our server Justin was very helpful in explaining some differences. We got a nice selection of Maki rolls and they were all delicious. The “specials” board has some very interesting selections. Will definitely go back and partake in some of the Ala carte sashimi selections. Oh… Not good with chop sticks ? Ask your server for the teaching ones !! Such fun !!

Called in a takeout order. Ordered a Kani salad, white tuna, salmon, and tuna sashimi. The Kani salad is was not a the typical…. Spring mix and some imitation crab….. barely any…. Not the typical imitation crab and cucumber and spicy mayo mix…. And not worth the 8 bucks. Sashimi was good, tuna was marked MP, which I thought would be 12 dollars since the salmon and white tuna were both $9…. 16 for two pieces…. Fried bananas as a complement…. But not a traditional Kani if that’s what you are craving!
