Definitely a stopping spot coming home from the beach! This no-frills, grab and go community favorite has daily items that fill your tank and your soul. For those of us that seek out great local bbq, this is a gem. The friendly owners talk us through the daily items and advised us on the way to order. Plan to eat in the car or bring a blanket for under the shade trees, seating is limited. Bring your cash or venmo, no credit cards used here. Go check them out!

Me and my stepdad stopped there for a bite on our road trip and the food was absolutely phenomenal, my stepdad bought the pulled pork sandwiches and 2 ribs while I got rib tips and rice, it was delicious and everything tasted perfect the ribs were juicy and tender while the pork had an amazing flavor and the beans were amazing, they were soft while seasoned to perfection. If I lived here this would be the place to eat at every night. Also the ladies we spoke to were absolute dolls and were very nice.

Our family ordered a BBQ Turkey for Christmas dinner. It was ready when promised and the staff even delivered it to my vehicle during what was a very busy day for their restaurant. The turkey was a hit. Very flavorful and presented very well.
We enjoyed it so much, that we ordered a full rack of ribs for New Year’s Day dinner. It was a hit, also. This group knows what they are doing in the kitchen! We will be more than happy to make the hour-long ride for Smoke Pit BBQ!

After 2 days of delays, snowstorms, ice storms and generally typical holiday travel from BC Canada, via Portland and Atlanta, we were finally on our way to our final destination and stumbled upon this amazing bbq!! Whoa, the ribs were spectacular, the sauce was a perfect balance of tangy and sweet, the Mac and cheese…let’s say I wish I had ordered everything they had left. The collards were unreal, perfect flavour, and the pork sandwich was delicious. But most of all, the people are amazing. So friendly, generous and kind. This would be a regular for me if I lived remotely close by. Trust me, you’ll want more than your stomach has room for.

After reading the reviews my family and I decided to check the Smoke Pit out and they did not disappoint. The owner and staff were warm, welcoming and the bbq was some of the best I’ve ever had. The mac n cheese was top notch as well. If you’re in the area do NOT second guess stopping here for a wonderful and memorable meal.

I had the most amazing experience. The staff and cooks provide a down to earth and hometown vibe. The turkey bbq is my absolute fave!! The pork is great as well! The sides could be starters also.Their prices are really reasonable. Give the Smoke Pit a try! You will not be disappointed.

Good spot for take-out BBQ. Unlike a lot of places in SC, Smoke Pit has smoked turkey and chicken, in addition to pork. Hash and rice included on platters with 1 side. The sauce is a light tomato. We had pulled pork, ribs, and turkey. All were really good. The pits around back run on propane. Everyone was really friendly. Easy access just off the interstate.

The sauce was too much. Too much vinegar and pepper. It did not bring out the sweetness of the meat. One thing I know is bar be que. I got the turkey sandwich and my son got the rib plate. Both were too spicy and it took away from the taste of the meat very overpowering the mix was off. The meat was very tender though and the Mac and cheese my son said was great. But overall it was too bad but definitely no where near the best BBQ
