I was on my way to a different restaurant and Hillbilly Red’s caught my eye. I’m very glad I turned around and gave it a try. Super friendly staff and cool decor. I had the pork BBQ platter with baked beans and green beens for my two sides. I also added a 1/4 chicken. The BBQ was very good, a little more chopped than pulled. The green beans were almost as good as my Nanny’s and the baked beans did not disappoint. The beans are in a thick not overly sweet sauce. My favorite was the smoked chicken, that was far better than I expected, very juicy and delicious! Give them a try, I’m glad I did!

Bbq pork plate. Pork was nice. Greenbean side was plain. Reminded me of greenbeans from the can. Macaroni and cheese seemed in-house made and the beans and coleslaw were great. Cornbread was soft and moist.
The proprietor was super friendly and checked in on us a few times for refills of tea.
Went for late lunch. It was fairly empty.

This is a great BBQ joint I found while on a business trip. This is a no frills order at the counter place. The bbq was great, I had the brisket that was not dry at all. The fries were freshly cooked. Service was top notch. I will certainly make it a point to visit again.

UMMMMMMMM, UMMMMMMMMM, GOOOOOOD! Please don’t sleep on Hillbilly Red’s. The customer service was very good and so was the food! I WILL be going back and can’t wait. Trust me, you will get your money worth. I gave it 4 stars because they didn’t have all of the desserts readily available.

I’m mad….. Mad that I live too far away from this place to eat here regularly. Wow is the brisket a thing of beauty it’s so moiste and flavor packed. The greenbeans were perfect as was the homemade Coleslaw. It’s on the high side of prices but it’s worth every penny not to say it was expensive by any means. You get what you pay for. If you want to pay medium prices you get medium quality BBQ. If you want outstanding BBQ that was made with a passion then you gotta pay just a tiny bit more. I will be stopping here every time I come to Richmond from now on. I will skip that other BBQ place off 64 from here on out. Thanks Red whoever you are you BBQ master.

5 stars on the service! I’d give the BBQ/food 4 stars but really the service is exactly what you would hope for. Woman at register was very friendly and the food was walked out to me. There is sauce and a paper towel roll on the table too so all you need is right here- just the way a good southern boy like me enjoys it.
Portion was OK- gonna come back and try the other sides but as you can see the sandwich is RIGHT! Little over an inch of meat and throw the slaw on top and you got a meal. They want you to put the sauce on the sandwich- from the south I love a good vinegar and it was pretty bland.
Like I said I’ll be back to try more but so far I’d certainly recommend if anything for the service and stories

Sweet homey feel! Love the decorations, we grabbed something on the way to go, the lady at the counter was so sweet. I wish she told me the combo was only 1 leas dollar than the sandwhich lol but all prices are posted so fair enough. BBQ was on point!

I love this place and come here regularly for lunch. The staff is always welcoming and looks for ways to keep ya comin’ back. They are a delicious bbq joint so if you looking for fish this is not your place.
