Hagan’s Grill is a popular local spot. The atmosphere is cozy. The tables are well separated. Nice bar area. I had the vegetable stir fry with the noodles. Other than the hard to eat, what I believe was a sun dried tomato, the sauce was good and the other veggies were okay. My wife had the fish and chips, which she said was like a hockey puck. We have had the fish and chips before at Hagan’s and it was excellent, so maybe we were just unlucky the other night. They had a special for a 12 oz. Pork chop that I was going to get until I heard the price. I figured i could cook a pork chop on my grill for probably 2 bucks and I wasn’t going to fork over 38. If you haven’t been, I would suggest that you give them a try. Not everybody has the same taste buds and pocketbook. You just might love it, we have in the past and might again in the future.

Hagans is a great neighborhood gem of a restaurant that has always fresh made food as the owner is unwavering on ingredients and the chef brings excellence in his recipes. We’ve been coming here for more than 18 years and it’s still one of our top favorites. Great food and drinks! Get yourself in there!!

This is our new favorite “go to”. We started going here about a year ago and have not had a bad meal yet! Great bar atmosphere. Dave is the best!!! We have met some great people there on Friday nights. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Hagan’s is a cozy choice in the Hampton area. The menu changes seasonally and contains a variety of options. This visit really blew my mind. The Blackened Salmon was cooked perfectly and paired well with the flavorful mango & pineapple salsa. We were also pleasantly surprised with the Creme Brulee and my husband’s swordfish. Prices are reasonable, and you can easily spend under $100 for a delicious meal.
The service at Hagan’s is unmatched! Cassie called before our reservation to confirm our table choice, and all of the staff were the sweetest. Dora, the owner, truly cares about making her guests happy. We’ll be back soon.

Incredibly disappointing. My boyfriend made us a reservation for 7:30pm on Valentine’s Day. We were super excited – only to show up at 7:25pm and barely have space to stand in the front of the restaurant since there were so many people waiting for a table. We checked in at the hostess stand after waiting 10 mins for a hostess. She told us “10 min wait”, even though we had a reservation. Come to find out, the rest of the people waiting for a table also had reservations (at least 5 other couples), meaning the restaurant was not honoring reservations at all. Working years in the restaurant business, it is common knowledge that a holiday like Valentine’s Day should be primarily reservation tables, accommodating walk ins only if availability opens. But Hagans was not accommodating any of us. After waiting until 8:15pm, we decided to go elsewhere since we were frustrated and hungry. As you can imagine, trying to find somewhere else to eat dinner on Valentines without a reservation was pretty difficult. How ignorant to do this to customers that planned on eating specifically at your restaurant on a special day because they wanted to give their business to you. While we waited for almost an hour standing near the bar crowded with all the other folks waiting, we were not engaged with by any staff, walking past us and pretending we weren’t even there. No drinks were offered while we waited, in fact, one couple that was waiting attempted to grab a couple bar seats when they opened up to get a drink while they waited, and they were told by the male working behind the bar that those seats were not for them. I mean, absolutely terrible. Poor management and etiquette. I guess they’re allergic to making money. Sad to say that an experience like this makes us and the other customers we were waiting with (who we discussed this with) never want to come to Hagans again.

What a wonderful dinning experience we had, we had the roasted artichoke hearts with peppers plus the vegetables spring rolls. Our linguine and clams were fantastic and they also accommodate my wife with oil instead of cream. Lovely spot if you want to get away for the tourists areas and have a drink with your friends. Fine dining at its best and definitely a must to try 🙂

This restaurant is a GEM. We consistently get 5-star service, 5-star Meals, and the pricing is WAY better than any restaurant in downtown Portsmouth. You can also make a reservation on Open-Table, which I really appreciate! The atmosphere is intimate and great for conversations. They make a lot of things from scratch here, which is important to me. Plenty of free parking nearby. We are foodies and have been coming here for years and we’re never disappointed.

Extremely disappointing experience at Hagan’s Grill on Valentines Day. After waiting two hours for our meals, we were served the wrong dishes. Staff simply said “Oh, something got transposed in your order and someone else got your meals.” They took the plates away and made no effort to bring what we ordered. After two hours of waiting, we left without eating, hungry and frustrated. Busy night or not, this level of service is completely unacceptable. We will not go back.

We had a great dining experience at Hagans! Started with fried artichoke hearts; they were light and crispy mixed with sweet peppers, followed by fish and chips; amazing fresh piece of haddock. I had the pork medallions that had a sweet blueberry sauce, and wonderfully paired with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts. We finished our meal with the best creme brulee! 10/10 Thank you to Joel our bartender/server who was kind and professional!

We went in around 8 pm, not sure when they closed or if they were still serving food. (They’re open til 11pm)
It’s a large space with people mainly congregating at the bar. We sat at a high top between the bar and the dining room. Our server was amazing! Bubbly, knowledgeable and fast to bring our food out and clear the dishes. She hustled and did her job efficiently, like a true veteran.
We started our culinary experience with a charcuterie board, as they were all out of the empañada. It had prosciutto, salami, smoked gouda and a cranberry Cheddar cheese (very crumbly, but delicious!) The savory mustard and pickles complemented the figs and apricots perfectly, when topped with a drizzle of honey. There was nothing to serve the honey with or spread the mustard onto the toast, so we had to use our dinnerware.
We both ordered the short ribs with mashed potatoes and asparagus. One was plated absolutely perfectly with an even amount of food centered on the plate. The other looked like they were running out of asparagus and mashed potatoes. The portion of short rib looked deceivin. It was very rich, tender and perfectly cooked. And very filling! We finished our meal with a creme brulé, which was topped with fruit, and very creamy and delightful!
We plan to return to try the rest of the menu!
