From the moment you walk in, the ambiance feels warm, elegant, and unmistakably Parisian.
The menu is thoughtfully curated, with classic French dishes executed to perfection.
Every bite reflects high-quality ingredients and exceptional attention to detail.
The wine selection is outstanding and pairs beautifully with the food, unfortunately I don’t drink but to be honest I was bit tempted. I had a great mocktail.
Service is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without being intrusive.
Whether you’re there for a romantic dinner or a special celebration, the atmosphere is ideal.
Portions are satisfying while maintaining fine-dining finesse.
Desserts are absolutely unforgettable and a must-try.
Amélie is a standout French restaurant in DC and well worth every visit.
We shared a happy hour–priced bottle of Sauvignon Blanc along with happy- hour priced baked Camembert that tasted amazing – warm, gooey, baked with garlic, thyme, and honey, and truffle fries, perfectly crispy and delicious. The only thing I’d change is the dipping sauce — ketchup didn’t quite fit; an aioli would’ve been perfect.
The mussels in garlic and white wine sauce were out of this world — tender, flavorful, and served with fresh baguette bread in a cute little burlap bag. The baguette was perfect for sopping up all that incredible garlicky white wine broth once the mussels were gone – so good!
Service was excellent – our server checked in often and was so friendly. Great food, great wine, great vibe. We’ll definitely be back!
We started with the escargot, which was excellent. The snails were tender, the garlic-parsley butter was rich and flavorful, and it was a strong start to the meal. My only critique was for the bread service: it didn’t arrive until our appetizer was already on the table, and it came out plain with nothing to spread on it. A good French butter, and bringing it out before the appetizer, would have elevated the start.
For our entrées, we ordered the scallops special and the steak frites. The scallops were beautifully seared. Presentation was elegant and the dish felt well thought out.
The steak frites, on the other hand, were a bit of a mixed experience. The steak was cooked to the correct temperature and was seasoned nicely, but the cut itself was just… not great. It was very chewy. So, although it was technically prepared well, it still wasn’t really enjoyable. The fries, were crisp and seasoned just right.
Service was friendly and fairly attentive considering how busy it was. Food came out at a very good pace and everything was nicely plated.
Overall, aside from the room for some minor improvements, it was a decent dining experience. I’d return to give it another try some time.
Service was very friendly.
Food:
Food was excellent. Escargot was great. Not as heavy as it normally is at other places. Very soft texture. Steak frites came with a green peppercorn (au poirve) sauce. Ordered medium rare (French medium rare so a bit more blue). Excellent cook on it. Well seasoned, high quality steak. Sauce was great and fries were crispy. I added the chocolate marnier mousse ($12). It was great. Smooth texture, rich, but not heavy chocolate. Honestly they hit this out of the park for me.
Definitely on the Norman/Parisan side of French bistro cuisine, which I love.
I did have their restaurant week menu for lunch which is similar to their normal lunch menu. I added on the chocolate mousse.
Price:
Food was also excellent. About the same price (a bit cheaper) compared to other French restaurants in the same neighborhood (there are 2 others).
Atmosphere: it is cute!
