It’s the only Fine Indian dining restaurant in Richmond. The menu has nice options in Veg, chicken, shrimp and lamb. We found Appetizers better than the entrees. Drinks are nice too.

We tried almost everything the taste was authentic. Quantity is good for two people, definitely not enough for three.

The service is not what you would expect in a fine dining restaurant. We were 2 hours from closing time and we were told multiple times to Order quickly and close!!

Delicious food, very flavorful without being too spicy hot. Lots of tasty options for the vegetarian in my family.
Beautiful presentation of the food, lovely contemporary decor in the restaurant (very few changes from how it looked when the space was a prior restaurant). We went on a rainy Wednesday night, and it was especially quiet. We received attentive service. They have a happy hour with drinks and appetizers, too.

Had an amazing experience here! The food was super delicious and beautifully presented — every dish looked like art The flavors were on point, and the service was just perfect. Everyone was so friendly and made us feel really welcome.

Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in Richmond — great place to bring family and enjoy a nice meal together. Can’t wait to go back!

While I am definitely more accustomed to the more traditional Indian restaurant, Kismet approaches modern Indian cuisine with both comfort and style. The interior of the restaurant is warm but sleek, their bar funky but full stocked and their staff well rehearsed but not stuffy in the slightest. They offer a great selection of cocktails and appetizers on their happy hour menu, which runs from 5-7pm.

My wife and I tried the blood orange Tiger Tail and the Mango Lassi cocktail and both were tremendous – full flavored and very complimentary to our meal. For starters, we shared the tandoori cauliflower, the pesto paneer and the lamb kabobs. The cauliflower was a little on the spicy side, which to me was very welcome, but my wife thought it had just a touch too much heat. The paneer and the lamb were both incredibly delicious, and the mint sauce with the lamb was a perfect compliment.

For entrees, we shared the eggplant dish and the zucchini kofta. The eggplant was absolutely delectable, and reminded me a lot of a Mediterranean dip we both love. The zucchini kofta consisted of fried zucchini and chickpeas in a thick tomato curry sauce that was also excellent. Be sure to order some rice or naan with your order as well – we got the goat cheese naan and it was, as the menu says, heavenly.

A wonderful restaurant and an excellent spot for a mid week date night. Go see Austin and let him and the staff delight and excite you and show you what the future of Indian cuisine can be!

Incredible food and even better service! Our server was awesome, and she recommended great options. Our drinks, main courses, sides, and sauces were all delicious. The upscale experience matched the price, and everything was worth every single penny. I will absolutely be back!

We were very impressed with the service, food and plating presentation. We had a full dinner on a Saturday night. Servers replaced our plates between appetizers and entrees, served frozen rose water as a palate cleanser. The servers and the manager were very attentive making us feel even more special. Our meals were well proportionated, the naan was exceptional , my favorite was the one that had the original flavor and shaped like a flower you pull apart (laccha parantha). I enjoyed my roasted eggplant dish but our group favorite was the chickpea dumplings (zucchini kofta) and our favorite drink was the Sirens Call.

Our experience began with abundant and convenient parking, setting a positive tone. The room decor was truly exquisite, a testament to thoughtful design. As for the dining, much of the food was simply sublime, its aroma captivating and adding another dimension to our enjoyment with its spice-infused flavors.

However, our positive impressions were tempered by some unexpected and perplexing charges on our bill, and a notable dining disappointment:
•The Richmond tax appeared elevated at an eyebrow-raising 10%.
•We were also charged for soda refills, extra spice, and additional rice. Considering our substantial order—starters, four main courses, three naans, and a paratha for just two adults and two children—these cumulative charges felt unjustified and excessive.
•A particular disappointment was the lamb chops, priced at $38 for three. Despite requesting medium, they arrived overdone and, surprisingly, had an underwhelming taste that paled in comparison to the vibrant, spice-infused flavors of the rest of our meal.

Had a fantastic experience at Kismet! Brian, the host, was extremely helpful and friendly from the first step in the door. He even snuck in a birthday dessert and candle after overhearing conversation. Craig at the bar knew his craft and mixed up fantastic drinks–I nicknamed him the Mixmaster as a result. The bar is classy and a great spot for a meet up. Each dish was flavorful and authentic tasting, and time to table was perfect. Great job to the Kismet staff and management!

We recently visited this Indian restaurant and had a mix of great flavors and a few areas that could use improvement. Chicken nilgiri and Nans were genuinely delicious—rich, well-spiced, and easily a 9/10 in terms of taste.
That said, some items fell short. The black pepper paneer was hard and chewy, which took away from the dish. The lacha paratha was overly crispy and difficult to eat. The potatoes served with the lamb chops were quite bland and didn’t add much to the plate. The lamb chops were tasty but the meat was not soft enough.
Portion sizes were also smaller than expected. Most dishes felt like they were only enough for one person, which made sharing difficult and didn’t match the pricing or style of the meal.
With improvements to texture, seasoning, and portion sizes, this restaurant has the potential to offer a much more balanced dining experience. We hope to see these changes on our next visit.
