Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was excellent across the board. The nachos were massive and packed with flavor—definitely a must-try. The baked spaghetti was seasoned perfectly, something you don’t expect to find at a BBQ joint, but they nailed it. The BBQ chicken platter was moist, tender, and full of smoky goodness. Even the mac and cheese stood out—creamy, cheesy, and comforting.
The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, a perfect place to sit back and enjoy some seriously good eats. I’ll definitely be back, and I’ll be bringing friends.

Want some fabulous BBQ? This is the place. The brisket sandwich is amazing. The collards are some of the best I have ever had! I understand they are grandma’s recipes. The nachos are plentiful and flavorful. You can’t go wrong with this place. The owners are kind and customer service oriented.

Visited on the Saturday before Labor Day for dinner. The restaurant is located at the south end of the Carolina Premium Outlets a few doors down from Columbia. Not very busy for a Saturday evening meal time. We were greeted right when we walked in by two girls at the order kiosk, who told us about their daily special and what their favorite items were. I ordered the brisket with green beans and mac-n-cheese. My wife had smoked turkey green beans and mac-n-cheese, and both orders also came with a cornbread muffin. It only took a couple of minutes for our order. My brisket was below average. The only moisture was near the fatty areas of the meat and the flavor was nothing to write home about. When you need a sip of your drink with every bite because the brisket is so dry, it gets the below average rating. The smoked turkey was absolutely fantastic, the flavor and texture were perfect. The green beans and mac-n-cheese were good as well. The corn bread muffin was amazing! The signs and decorations are a cool, fun touch to the restaurant. I’m hesitant to give From The Ashes a second try with their brisket.

I went here a lot almost a year ago when they were still at the Smithfield Outlet Mall and loved them. Today I went back to their new location and ordered my usual, smoked wings with bbq sauce and sides. The wings were really disappointing. I’ve never had this smoked wings like this. I ordered to go so when I got home, I was surprised at what I saw. I had to recook them and add my own sauce to them. I don’t know what happened to this place within the past year…but it definitely wasn’t worth $20+

To the owner I truly understand first hand the challenges associated with the food service business; however having patronized several times the quality of the food as well as service has deteriorated significantly but $$ is up the young lady did not want to put a full serving of mac n cheese; after eating a few bites it wasn’t good. She had an annoyed demeanor also the bag was greasy made a spot in my truck !!

Great spot to eat at the outlets! I got a BBQ chicken plater with two sides but tried my mans food too. This is a place that has eastern BBQ where the sauces are Vinegar based. The meats are cooked just right and very good. Now the sides…well they need some good ole fashion love. They lack seasoning for sure. The Mac and cheese was homemade and could have had a little carmelizing of the cheese and it needed salt. The Baked Beans missed the mark because they tasted like can beans. Maybe some more BBQ sauce, add onion, maybe even go crazy and add some meat. The Green beans were hurting too. They needed some more bacon, bacon grease and salt. The corn bread won the prize. Wholly cow I could have slapped my momma! It was so moist and the flavor was spot on.

Brisket was extremely dry and tough and lacked flavor. Mac and cheese was mushy. Cornbread was dry and inedible. Collards were just ok. Staff was friendly and the restaurant appeared clean. Prices were steep. $55 for two brisket platters.

We decided to head back to one of our favorite new places today!! Check out the enormous portions and wow the food was delicious! If you’re at Carolina Pottery or anywhere in Smithfield give them a try, you won’t regret it.

We really enjoyed our lunch at From the Ashes in Smithfield. We ordered the smoked Turkey platter with collards and slaw, the veggie platter with Mac and cheese, collards, and green beans, and the daily special of brisket grilled cheese. All of our food was well seasoned, flavorful, and good portions. The meats were delicious and tender! The restaurant was very clean and the service was five star! I would definitely recommend From the Ashes to anyone who loves country cooking!

Stopped in for lunch on a quick trip to pick up something from the outlets. Really impressed with the quality and portions – we tried the pulled pork and brisket platters. Wanted to hug them for the corn muffins. The prices are a little bit high but honestly two people can eat a platter for lunch and be just fine. Same for the nachos – they’re huge! All the sides were delicious and tasted like legit Southern recipes – mustard and eggs in the potato salad, creamy slaw, tasty mac and cheese. Staff was polite and checked on us out of kindness. Locally owned, feels like a family kind of place.
