Getaway Motor Cafe is my absolute favorite coffee shop of all time. I’ve had offices in France, Denmark, Scotland, Japan, and India, and I’ve enjoyed some truly wonderful coffee around the world (honorable mentions to Tokyo, Seattle and New York). Somehow, though, the very best cup is right here in my own backyard, less than a 10-minute drive from my house. What truly sets this place apart is the staff. They prepare each drink with real artistry and make everyone who walks in feel genuinely welcome. My family and I now visit a few times a week, and it’s become one of our favorite traditions. If you’re nearby, don’t miss it.

We stopped by here today per the recommendation of our daughter-in-law. We completely enjoyed the mocha, hot chocolate and scone. We had planned on taking everything to go but the atmosphere was so charming that we stayed. The service was excellent as well. We’ll be back when it’s a little warmer so we can sit outdoors with our dog. Highly recommend this place!

Cute location, good coffee. It’s a little bit loud when it’s busy, so I recommend that you bring your noise cancelling headphones if you’re going to try and sit and decompress.

Such a cutie little place! The Cold Boo is such a fun fall drink! My friend and I stopped in and ordered the Cold Boo, Iced Sweater Weather, Breakfast Burrito, and an Old-fashioned donut. The donut was to die for! We will definitely be stopping back.

Nice little coffee shop, clean moden feel with subtle hints of motorcycle vibe decor. Delicious lattes and tasty donuts. Getaway is well worth the detour it took to get here.

Such a great spot. The staff is super friendly and gave great drink recommendations. The space inside is beautiful and chill, and the patio is even better, perfect for a sunny day. I had the blueberry basil latte and it was delicious… like summer in a cup. Fresh, a little sweet, and just different enough to be memorable. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.

This is my favorite place in Carver. Amazing coffee, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. We’re here at Steamboat Days and these girls behind the counter are absolutely crushing it! Kudos. Everyone should try Getaway.

Loved the coffee shop itself and they have a wide variety of drinks, but wasn’t the biggest fan of the matcha. It was just generally kinda bland/weak and quite pale as you can tell from the photo. I was looking forward to it as one of the other reviews was raving about it but it wasn’t something I’d order again. Would definitely stop again in the future and try something different as it’s a lovely little spot!

Best coffee west of the cities! Very cute shop with excellent coffee. I am always impressed with the options and the quality of the drink especially when it is really busy. They do not short on their craft. Great spot during the week to study or get work done. Like every shop on the weekend the business is CRAZY! My favorite little gem in carver

I don’t usually write reviews unless the experience really stands out — and unfortunately, this one did for the wrong reasons. We’re regulars here and genuinely enjoy the coffee, but over time we’ve learned to gauge how our drinks will turn out based on who’s working.

The customer service has always been poor. The staff rarely greet or acknowledge customers and often seem disengaged. Each time we visit, we’re the ones who have to initiate conversation or start our order because they just stand there looking at us like we don’t belong. It’s also noticeable that we’ve never seen a person of color working here, and given that this is a predominantly white area, the atmosphere can feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming at times.

During my recent visit, the older barista took around 15 minutes talking with a friend and making their drink before even starting on ours, and never apologized for the delay. Normally, we get our drinks pretty quickly, and at that time there were no other drinks waiting (just ours) so the wait felt unnecessary. Another barista was available and could’ve easily made our drinks but didn’t — yet when the older one made our order incorrectly, that same barista had time to try the drink afterward. When she finally handed us our drinks, she showed me my receipt as if I didn’t know what I had ordered (I get the same order every time) instead of just apologizing or correcting it right away. The drinks are often inconsistent depending on who makes them, which takes away from what could otherwise be a great experience. We never complain or ask for drinks to be remade, but it’s frustrating when the experience feels negligent.

We always take our drinks to go because sitting inside just doesn’t feel inviting. We’ll continue to come back because we enjoy the drinks and want to support local businesses, but the professionalism, consistency, and overall atmosphere definitely need improvement.
