So I travel for my job and wanted to have some Asian food. I found Tokyo Tapas on Google and my coworkers said it was good so I thought I’d give it a go. They have a lunch hibachi special that has Gyoza and Spring rolls with it. When I came to pick it up Jeremy was very nice and courteous and I felt like if I was in the area again I would come by.
In regards to the food, this is why the review was four stars. Never, have I ever had a hibachi without vegetables. Every place I have gone for hibachi has it, so I didn’t think to ask. They have an option for more rice, miso or a salad, and I chose more rice thinking I could mix the meat and vegetables. The whole meal was out of proportion, since there was no vegetables to go with it. When I called after discovering this I was told the lunch one doesn’t have veggies, and that you have to pay extra for them. This was a big let down for me as I love hibachi. I will say the gyoza and spring rolls were pretty fantastic.
I would just say if you are going there for lunch, make sure you know they don’t automatically have the veggies in the hibachi. I was told by my coworkers that this must be a new thing because they had gone recently for lunch and there was veggies and noodles in there. I would have had to pay more for the noodles too. If I could give the restaurant any feedback, it would be to bring back the veggies on the lunch hibachi!

When I entered they said they only doing take out which was OK, first time there so the guy who took my order was very helpful. I ordered the hibachi lunch with the NY strip. And The Tokyo roll. Had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes but it was good. Once I got the food everything looked great and a great amount for the money. Once I started to eat the rice was flavorful and the egg rolls and dumplings were great. But when I started to eat the steak it had a bad scent and it tasted spoiled. I instantly spit it out and called the restaurant back. The person who answered the food really put me off because, I was calm and explained what happened, I also told him ,I’m just telling you so you can check the other meat. All this while saying that everything else was great. But he was defensive telling me it may be the marinate and he used one big slab that they cut up and seasoned the night before, and no one else complained. I’m like I know when food is spoiled. Especially meat, it has a foul odor, he still was standing by the fact that nothing is wrong with his meat but if he get my contact he can give me a free one the next time. And I’m like it’s not about that and I won’t be back. I believe Accountable needs to be taken. I never had any intention to go back I live a ways away. I just want to make him aware . Be he was very nonchalant. I believe meat can go bad at any time for many reasons, it’s all how you handle situations which makes or breaks businesses. Eventhough the other food was good , I wouldn’t be back.

Wow, I would like to keep this place a secret but credit must be given when due. Flavor flavor flavor is all that can be said. You know a place is great when they nail the basics. Can’t believe you can get a $6 Tuna roll in Oviedo, WITH REAL SLICED TUNA NOT THE CHEAP MUSH! The edamame must be portioned out for 5 people, and is only $2 on Fridays! Our shrimp roll even had real crab meat. The star of the place is the gas grill that cooked our hibachi food, not greasy at all and packed with flavor, we will definitely be returning for the specials.

Good food but terrible customer service… I have visited this place multiple times for the past three years, but Second time ordering online and missing my lunch sides. When you come back to claim your missing food they blame you that you ate it already. I do NOT need to steal food. I pay for what I want to eat.

Mourning the loss of one of my all time favorite, go-to restaurants since I moved to Oviedo 4 years ago. I can’t believe it’s gone. The Tokyo Crunch will be missed. The chicken hibachi with fried rice and veggies will be missed. The spicy fried potatoes will be missed. Even the pointless, wilted, ridiculously sized garnishes on every single food item (even when it made absolutely no sense to have a garnish) will be missed.
The boys in the kitchen always asking about my day. The empty dining room that yearned to have guests stay and enjoy a meal inside of it once more. All but a distant memory now. It took me 4 years to finally reach the status of a “regular”. Isaac would answer the phone and ask “the usual?”. My heart aches at the devastating news of this establishment’s closure. I hope and pray that one day I can taste you again. God speed. Rest in peace, sweet prince. I hope to see you again, perhaps beyond the gates of heaven, with extra white sauce.

Tokyo Tapas never disappoints. I have never had a bad meal from them. I always get the hibachi chicken and it’s always so juicy and tender. I especially love the steam veggies. They’re only take out and very quick after you place your order.
UPDATE: July 2024. Recently the portions and quality have gone a little downhill from my previous post. The hibachi chicken we received were little bites and pieces, not big bite size pieces we use to get. The noodles and rice use to be so full that you couldn’t close the container. Seems the portions are getting smaller but the prices are not reflecting the size.

Their food is good, and even though this was my first time ordering from them, I would probably go back. They were very popular, and lots of people were making orders, coming in, and picking up. I thoroughly enjoyed their Tapas and their sushi!
My only critiques was their timing needs work. I can understand a limited crew pumping out orders as fast as possible, but I ordered 30 minutes ahead, and I waited 30 minutes in house. The crew was apologetic, and I was cool about it. I personally would just like to see some improvement next time I order again.
I recommend you give them a shot, and see for yourself!
