I think this place is fine. The ice cream is decent by NoVA standards, but not up to par with the best of the best that I’m used to coming from New England. It’s not creamy or rich enough and the flavors don’t always come through

First off, I wanna congratulate moo thru for winning the nova ice cream wars! Much deserved. My wife and I absolutely love this ice cream. By far the best ice cream we’ve ever had. We found this place because we were looking for a banana ice cream without extra ingredients, such as walnuts, chocolate, etc. Suprisingly, it’s not easy to find. We also wanted to stay away from preservatives and additives. We’ve been regulars here since a little before they moved into their storefront. Their banana ice cream, and every other flavor is delicious. However, their vanilla ice cream is impeccable. Also, I missed the seasonal flavor of apple pie ice cream last year (also hard to find) but it just came back! Chef’s kiss. Moo thru definitely has loyal regulars in us.

Arrived around 6:40pm Wednesday and no one was inside except me and some in parking lot. Others arrived after we arrived. Young men and women employees were really nice. They let me try vanilla ice cream and soft serve, chose the soft serve vanilla ice cream in a small waffle cone. Filled me up. My family came in after I did and had a milkshake and mint chocolate ice cream in a cup. Milkshake kept leaking out the top. Please improve the milkshake too so it won’t leak. Cannot give 5 stars because of that.
2 months prior, my initial review was Ice cream was real delicious. Outside seating and shop seems to be shared with the coffee shop next door or it is the same store but 2 diff store fronts outside.

This is the best ice cream in the universe. You can tell that there’s no gums or fillers, only real cream and milk. My favorite flavor is the cake batter flavor, it’s very strong unlike most cake batter ice creams I’ve had, way better than cold stone creamery!

When I was in the Virginia Tech campus, the Kroger there had organic milk in glass containers. They were my favorite milk ever back in college. After a while, I forgot about them. UNTIL NOW at Moo Thru! They sell these same organic milk in the same container. I switched my milk source from Costco to Moo Thru entirely. It’s not cheap by any means but I do feel the different taste so I’m sticking with it. $6 for milk. $3 for a glass container the very first time you buy. So, it’ll be $9 per container for your first run. Then, you can bring back the containers and swap them for just $6.
I know I’m reviewing milk at the ice cream shop but my friend, their milk is top shelf. That’s why their ice cream is so good in the first place. It’s dangerous though because every milk run, I end up with at least a giant scoop!
It’s a busy place. Every time I came, there was at least some crowd. Small parking right out front. People come and go quickly so it’s not a problem. There’s a bigger indoor space next to the serving area if you prefer to sit indoors.
All I have to say is that if you haven’t been here, you need to check it out ASAP!

Best. Ice Cream. Ever. I’ve never tasted such deliciousness in all my 50 years of life, and I’m definitely a self-proclaimed ice cream snob. I got the cake batter and my son got the cookie butter. The staff is very friendly, and you can tell they actually care about their jobs. I believe I also spoke with the owner, and he is a very good guy. We will definitely be return customers!!

Delicious ice cream! There’s a ton of flavors, and toppings, for you to enjoy in a cup or on a cone (fresh made waffle cones oh yeah!) or as a shake or float (Pepsi float is an option). Lots of choices to pick from, and seating inside and outside. Plenty of parking as well. My one “meh” would be the lack of label flavors on the ice cream cooler, so you have to guess based on what you see and the menu far above. Still would come back though!

Amazing new ice cream shop! They have tons of flavors, soft serve AND regular ice cream, and the portions were huge for the price. The quality is like nothing else I’ve tried. Bonus points- we got two (free) pup cups for our dogs which are pictured. The pup cups are real ice cream! Can’t wait to come back!

We love Moo Thru! We used to live near the original location and were super excited when the storefront opened in Herndon. The Holstien and Coffee are our favorites. I definitely recommend checking out the original location (Remington) during the warmer months.
