Reviews
The staff were a highlight of the visit — extremely friendly, approachable, and willing to answer all my questions without rushing. Their service felt genuine and attentive, which I really appreciated.
For the food, I ordered the King Crab with Shrimp combo (14). The flavors were quite interesting, with decent spice levels that made it tasty and enjoyable. However, the Shrimp Fried Rice was a bit of a letdown — just okay, leaning toward below average in taste and presentation.
One area where I felt disappointed was the pricing. The prices were really expensive compared to the quantity served. In my opinion, at least a 20% reduction would make it more reasonable. As it stands, this felt more like a one-time experience for me. If you’re super rich, the price won’t bother you — but for the average diner, it’s hard to justify.
On the plus side, the restaurant has plenty of parking available and is located in a very safe area, making it convenient for visitors.
Overall Verdict:
A clean and friendly place with some tasty dishes, but the high prices and uneven food quality mean I probably won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
Food: 5/5
I ordered the Dungeness crab, sausage, shrimp, potatoes, and corn — everything was cooked perfectly. Great flavor, fresh ingredients, and satisfying portions. The food was definitely the highlight.
Service: 5/5
Our server was fantastic — very attentive and checked on us regularly. Service was on point throughout the meal.
Now for the downsides:
Tap water was awful — tasted unfiltered and downright gross. That’s a basic expectation that wasn’t met.
Automatic 18% gratuity was added to the bill with no visible notice. I always tip well, but adding it without informing guests upfront feels shady and unprofessional.
We came during prime dinner hours and the place was nearly empty, which says a lot.
Despite the great food and service, these issues really ruined the experience. I won’t be returning.
Recently visited Yummy Crab in Olympia marking my second time at this establishment. The first experience was takeout, and by the time I reached my destination, the food had unfortunately lost some of its crunch. However, this recent dine-in experience significantly improved my perspective.
Upon entering, my dear friend and I were seated near the front, which initially caused slight irritation as I would have preferred a better-lit area. Thankfully, the booth had adjustable shades, allowing me to brighten our space comfortably.
For our meal, I ordered the combination catfish and shrimp basket with a side of fried okra. My friend opted for the cod basket, accompanied by sweet potato fries, and sweet tea.
Our server, Gabriel, delivered excellent service—he was attentive, courteous, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our visit.
The catfish was notably crispy, just how I like it, and well-seasoned. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her cod, fries, and especially the sweet tea.
The establishment itself was decent and clean, including the restrooms.
Breaking it down:
Atmosphere: 2 stars (lighting/seating could be improved)
Food: 3 stars (tasty and well-prepared, but not exceptional)
Service: 4 stars (thanks to Gabriel’s attentiveness)
Overall, Yummy Crab provided a pretty good experience. I definitely plan to return, hoping the experience continues to improve even further.
*my personal experience
Green mussels with all-in-one seasoning (so all seasonings they offer combined) and you can taste the Cajun, garlic butter AND lemon.
Snow crab with shrimp with garlic butter and old bay.
No complaints, will return.
It is a little on the high end for dining out, but it is expected for the variety of seafood we had. Will keep this place in mind for those special dinners out.
