This place was genuinely delicious and authentic. We enjoyed speaking with the servers and picking their brains for recommendations. We ordered lots: the fish cake apps (so good), the stuffed crab back (exquisite!), the chicken curry, bbq chicken and the filet in creole curry. The cherry on top was the guava pie straight from the oven with the homemade ice cream on top. The pie was a little dense not your traditional type of pie but still tasty. Honestly 10/10 experience and cuisine! Highly recommend 🙂

We ate here twice in a row and nothing disappointed.
Menu full of home style island classics that are never too complicated or too simple, and balance rustic charm with skillful execution.
We had oxtail stew, curry coconut chicken, garlic shrimp, and creole snapper, and all were great. We find conch to be a bit dull, but on the second night we went with Yvette’s Conch appetizer, which was a kind of spicy acidic ceviche, and it was truly special; I wouldn’t sleep on the other conch dishes.
Incredibly welcoming and friendly service, it was a great way to spend our 2 night layover.
The Google maps location is wrong, it is closer to the main road, and on the right side of the street as you drive up. Other reviews have pictures of the front, which helps. I told the woman there on the first night that the gps was off and she smiled and said “sometimes good things are hard to find.”
The definition of a hidden gem.

If you want genuine, Caribbean food made and appreciated by locals, its Chez Yvette. We had stuffed crab, johnny cakes, ribs, oxtail creole, curried goat, and guava pie with rum ice cream. Coming from Brooklyn, with its large Caribbean population, we know good Caribbean food. This place was exceptional!! Be aware that Google Maps is slightly wrong and will take you past the restaurant and further up the hill. The restaurant is in a small unassuming house after you turn from the road. The sign may be blocked by a parked car. Look for the pink porch roof.

Get ready to be inspired by the most exceptional local cuisine on the island of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. This beloved eatery has been a staple since childhood, consistently delivering outstanding food and service. The new air conditioning is a lovely touch. With generous portions and affordable prices, order everything and enjoy the family-style service. And, be sure to try their famous Johnny Cakes, the island’s best. Located in a quaint converted house in the French Quarter, this hidden gem is a must-visit. While driving in Saint Maarten can be a bit bumpy, the experience is well worth the effort. Remember to reserve your table!

This is a great spot that features local dishes! The environment is homey and the food is tasty!
We started with the ribs and Johnny Cakes and then had the Conch with Dumplings and the Creole Whole Snapper ! While the Saint Martin staple dish (conch with dumplings) was pretty good, it was the Snapper that was the best dish – you should definitely try it if you like seafood.
The hosts were very hospitable, which added to a lovely dining experience. Skip the big store stuff and come here! You won’t regret it

Our group of 33 people had dinner at Chez Yvette just a few days ago and it was really great. The restaurant is located on a not well lit street and there’s nothing upscale about the building itself, but don’t let that scare you away! I had pre-arranged and pre-ordered all the food with Gabriel from a set menu ahead of time and the dinner went super smoothly. The food served was authentic to the island/Carribean and both kids and adults truly enjoyed it. I definitely recommend and would eat there again on our next visit!

Came here on a weeknight – we had a large party of 12 with no reservations so we booked for the following evening and they were able to accommodate. This restaurant is family run and it truly feels like it. Unlike other restaurants we went to on the island which would have a robust menu but ran out of items when you went they had a full menu. The conch chowder, Yvette conch, conch stew and conch salad were all amazing. Johnny cakes were the best we had on the island. Oxtail was solid choice but the fresh broiled red snapper was insanely fresh and is a dish I would come back for again and again. Try to make reservations if you can as they don’t open Wednesdays and is a small quaint place.

This is a hidden gem. The food is so good, the service is amazing and the food comes out fast and fresh. Don’t be intimated by it being an extension of a house. Worth the trip and experience. Prices are very reasonable and the portions were very good. The only thing to note is that it is cash only. Since they have limited tables- make a reservation!

I am head over heels for this place. The codfish fritters and Johnny cakes were fresh and delicious and served piping hot. The snapper creole was a revelation and the HOMEMADE HOT SAUCE I honestly considered stealing and putting in my backpack to bring home. Last, but certainly not least, I’m certain I started seeing new colors after that guava pie.

This place was a recommendation from one of our drivers and it didn’t disappoint one bit. The place gives a very ‘homey’ vibe and the food was very good. I definitely would recommend you going here if you’re in St Marteen
