Years ago, during his struggling student days, my husband used to buy “Chicken Fried Rice” here when it was just $5 back then. He always spoke about the taste and the generous quantity, and those memories stayed close to his heart.
This time, he simply wanted to relive that memory and taste the same fried rice again. We honestly wondered if the taste would still be the same after all these years…
But to our surprise, he was amazed. The taste is still exactly the same!
Of course, the price is no longer $5, but the flavor and quantity are truly applaudable. Maintaining that same taste consistently over the years is something really special. Others which we ordered were great too!
After enjoying the delicious fried rice, we left with happy hearts, talking about all the memories he had tied to this place.
A big thank you to the “Chef” for maintaining the authentic taste, to the “Gentleman at the front desk” for welcoming us so warmly, and most importantly to the “Owner” who continues to run this restaurant with such consistency and care.
It’s beautiful to see that students from years back still remember this place and its food with so much affection.
Thanks a ton for the memories! ❤️✨
I review many places but this review will always hold special place! ❤️
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. I ordered a combination platter with General Tso’s chicken, fried rice, and an egg roll. After sitting down for less than two minutes and tasting it, the food was awful. The fried rice was bland, and the chicken didn’t even resemble General Tso’s—no flavor, no quality.
I went back to the counter, politely asked for the manager, returned the food, and requested a refund. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the little man who claimed to be the manager argued with me and outright refused to refund my money—even after taking the food back. I paid $14.25 for food I could not eat and customer service that was unacceptable.
I ultimately had to dispute the charge with my bank to get my money back. That alone should tell you everything.
To be clear, I wasn’t expecting anything unreasonable—I simply wanted decent food and basic customer service. I ended up going to Mama’s Taste in Fairfax City, and it was chef’s kiss. Great food, great service, zero regrets.
Between the filthy atmosphere, terrible food, rude management, and refusal to issue a refund, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Go to spot for American Chinese pickup. They make their eggrolls super OG style with the dried little shrimps. Love. Same with red roast pork. So glad they finally switched to not styrofoam for the most part. Portions have gotten smaller with inflation.
1. Hot and Sour Soup (order it with the fried rice and pour it over as a sauce)
2. Hot and Sour soup mixed 1/3 with 2/3 of the Egg Drop Soup
3. Sweet and Sour Chicken with extra pineapple (the red sauce is tangy and perfect)
4. Chicken and Broccoli, a classic, the brown sauce is excellent
5. General Tsao’s chicken…simply the best.
The food is very good and tasty consistently. Other Chinese restaurants might have meh food or just “generic food”, but this restaurant cooks the food the way I like it, with that classic Chinese food restaurant taste from years ago. Much better than the current Panda Express.
Highly recommended!
I ordered 5 different items still no extra hot sauce?
Thats why bo customers in the store 1 pm for lunch time.:(
