Service was amazing, ask for Bentlee. The food was good, and prices were very low. You get free homemade pork skins (picture below) and those were amazing. The spice they use for them is really good as well. Overall great experience

What nice place. Good value, delicious food. We had onion rings for an appetizer and they were some of the best we have had. Did chicken fried steak for dinner and it was delicious, due to coronavirus they were using plastic knive and fork but the steak was so tender that the plastic knive went thru it like hot butter. Would for sure eat here again.

First time visited and I was impressed with the food. The pork skins took me back to my childhood, awesome! The food was really good, we got the catfish nuggets. Not too busy so everything came out quickly. Love the charm of the dining area. The parking lot could use a bit of attention as we were dodging water holes after the last rain.

Nothin fancy, just real good food and service. I got the grilled catfish & shrimp, awesomely good. Wife’s salmon was cool, but was delicious. Decent salad bar, booths and tables were not cramped. Amanda was a sweetheart of a waitress. She gave us onion rings for our first visit, and they were the best I’ve had in years. All in all we were happy, and full.

I stopped by the restaurant at closing time hoping to get my mom’s favorite snack. They were out and had shut the kitchen down. I explained that she was in the nursing home. To my surprise they asked which one. They offered to fix it for her and deliver it on the next day. I ordered for both my mom and her suite mate. This place is awesome. The food is delicious and the service is above and beyond. Thanks.

My Daughter took us out for dinner. I ordered fried oysters. I usually cook my own. The meal arrived in a timely manner. My oysters were extremely small, I’m talking the size of a thumb nail. There were way over cooked, zero taste and extremely salty. I would have complained but out of respect for my daughter’s treat I didn’t. Should have ordered grilled shrimp. Service is always great at Pineywoods.

Im not an original local. However, I am a former waitress so even though I’m picky about service, I also give leniency when I can tell my server is stressed. However, this review is based on days when the servers were just plain lazy.
I’ve been here twice with my in-laws who are from here – over a year apart, both times the place was all but empty. If there was a zero star option, this place would get it.
Jan 12, 2015 service slow, food order incorrect, drink refills never offered, felt like we were a hindrance and it was just 3 adults with sweet tea and burgers.
Aug. 6, 2016 service slow, waiter acted like he couldn’t understand us (he was obviously ESL which isn’t normally an issue, it’s Texas, ya know, but… keep reading), got every single order at a table of 4 adults and 2 kids WRONG, including appetizers which ended up coming out cold, half the food was cold and drinks didn’t get refilled. All that after waiting nearly half an hour just to get the order taken to begin with. It was a horrible waste of 3 hours – yes, it took THAT LONG for it to all get took care of right.
Needless to say we haven’t been back (now 2018) and feel no serious loss. Can get better service at a fast food restaurant in town and the food comes out hot. It’s bad when the Mexican restaurant across the street has American fare too and is 100x better in all aspects.

I didn’t know what to expect when we decided to eat here. It is an ok establishment in term of looks and decor but man the food was amazing and perfectly cooked. I love the pork skin the delivered to the table instead of normal chips a salsa like everyone else. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

Ate here November of 2019. Food was great, and the fried pork skins were so good we got 3 bags to go. This week we will be back in the center area for football play offs and making a point to go miles out of our way to once again eat at this fine restaurant and load up on pork skins!!
