What a gem! I’ve always loved Hemma Hemma for their breakfast, brunch, and lunch — and now their new dinner menu makes me love this spot even more! The atmosphere is cozy, modern, and perfect for a relaxed night out.

We started with a few beverages and shareables — the Burrata + Tomatoes and Trio of House Dips were absolutely delicious (the beet hummus is a must-try!). For our mains, we had the Aji Verde Chicken Thighs, Herby Chicken Salad Wrap, and Yoshoku Beef Curry — everything was so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

The staff was friendly, the service was great, and every dish tasted so thoughtfully made. Definitely one of my favorite KC spots — perfect for any meal of the day!

Hemma Hemma is located in an historic stretch of Waldo called the Romanelli Shops just south of Wornall and Gregory. There is ample parking along the street and in their personal parking lot.

When you walk into this lovely place, you’ll notice that the residents of the Brookside and Waldo neighborhoods LOVE Hemma Hemma. Don’t let it stop you if you love farther away. I recommend it to everyone!

We love to come here around 9am for breakfast. Lattes with original flavors, avocado toast, power banana toast, smoothie bowl, egg soufflé sammich, and their glorious BACON are mouth watering and show stopping. I’m hungry just thinking about it.

They recently opened for dinner, and our experience was equally delightful ☀️

To start, the Smashed Dumpling Tacos were unbelievable! We could have eaten only those and it would have been a perfect meal! They were a balanced blend of savory, tangy, comfort, salty (but not too salty), and citrus – and we will return there soon driven by our desire to eat them again. It’s the kind of dish you can’t stop thinking about later!

Our Main Courses for a party of four: … Yoshuko Beef Curry, Aji Verdi Chicken Thighs, Pickle Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad and an awesome Burger were joyful mains before we finished the meal with a citrus pie (luscious graham cracker crust) and a chocolate dessert whose name I cannot remember but whose taste is unforgettable!

The owner of Hemma Hemma is such a lovely lady, a creative force who pairs flavors beautifully and who manifests a home sweet home vibe in her well decorated space.

Go see Chef Ashley and her team! They are top notch. Thank you for your unparalleled dedication and consistency!

The drip coffee (not pictured) was some of the best drip coffee i’ve ever had. The carrot cake latte was delicious. We had the masa pancakes with churro syrup which were amazing and then the classic breakfast burrito which was served with a spicy aioli and h sauce. The burrito was one of the best i’ve had. They use a lot of products from local producers like Yoli Tortilleria which were featured in both our dishes (the masa and tortilla on the burrito). The service was top notch and the interior was beautiful. One of the best brunch experiences i’ve ever had.

I’ve done breakfast, lunch and dinner at this incredible establishment! It’s so freaking good! I have dietary restrictions, and I’m so grateful for such a large menu with healthy options for me, that don’t feel like an afterthought. I LOVE that there are feminine hygiene products and little touches in the girls bathroom that are smart. Above all, we loved our server, Omni (apologies if I botched the spelling)! She was so sweet and so helpful in chatting about the menu. Her personality made our experience that much better! Can’t wait to be back again and again!

Great local spot with options for more health conscious focus as well as more standard options. I love finding local spots that provide healthy options and I’ve been wanting to try ever since they opened and did not disappoint. Food was great and I loved they support local brands (Zen Donkey Farms, tried their juice and it was so good, Ibis bakery, etc) and service was 10/10. Definitely want to come back and try more!

One of the best places in town! Changed up the menu recently and added a vegan enchilada dish that is a must try. Oat milk for vegan lattes as well. All expertly crafted
Must stop for KC or traveling vegans

I met a friend here for lunch and it was a first time visit for both of us! We both agreed that this place was so good. I ordered the salmon wrap and it was delicious!
I love the coziness inside and they also have an outdoor patio.
We had excellent service and plan to return soon!

Went in on a Sunday for brunch on a rainy day waited about 5 minutes in the line to order. It is an order at the counter and find a seat set up. The coffee orders were backed up so we waited about 15 mins for coffee and our food came out first. Staff were really friendly and kind. Coffee was a little less than amazing no latte art on my dine in coffee and the food server took our number so the coffee server couldn’t find us I went to the counter to get it.
When the food arrived all the bowl style plates are the same color (just aesthetics) and the food looks amazing but is really messy and hard to eat. We ordered the breakfast burrito. The fried pickle biscuit and the power banana toast. All looks appealing but crumbled apart as we tried to eat it. I was also surprised that the egg on the biscuit was a runny egg which really disrupted the flavor. Otherwise it was a great biscuit, tiny bit sweet.
The breakfast burrito is normally smothered in salsa verde but we ordered it on the side. The burrito is mostly egg, which we liked but the other ingredients were lighter on. The banana toast was good and large amount of banana.
Overall thought it was great just hard to eat and messy.

Beautiful restaurant, great service, and the best brunch I’ve had in KC so far. Priced very reasonably! I’m from the south and this is the only sausage gravy that rivals my great grandma’s.

Are you looking for a breakfast burrito that isn’t overloaded with one particular ingredient, packs flavor, and is held together by a Yoli tortilla? THEN LOOK NO FURTHER. Seriously. I’m a snob when it comes to breakfast burritos, I want fluffy eggs, I want seasoned potatoes, I want thick bacon that is well distributed and not greasy. This burrito has it all + a aioli dipping sauce that is spicy and creamy and delicious. 10/10 would recommend. Added a cinnamon roll on the side because, duh.
