Nice restaurant, quite expensive but food is delicious and service is good. Was very quiet, just us there.

My husband and I had our 17th wedding anniversary lunch here today, the starters were amazing. The main course not as good. The service was good but while the server was topping up other people drinks, he never bothered to ask if we would like another drink, I had to ask him and the restaurant wasn’t busy at the time. I would go back again and try some more dishes before I make a final decision.

Just home from our 1st visit. Can’t wait to return. Best food I’ve tasted in a long time. The mushroom pastry basket starter was so full of flavour, the smell as it reached the table was amazing. Hubby enjoyed the pate starter, and the chutney was superb. Both Fillet Steaks were cooked to perfection. I could have sat all night sampling the desserts. Unfortunately I only had room for 1, the creme brulee, did not disappoint.
Both gentlemen waiters were very attentive and their recommendation of the house rose was spot on.
We can’t wait until our next visit.
Enjoy your week off & we look forward to returning very soon.

First class values throughout. Good food, brilliant service. Go visit you will not be disappointed.
Update September 2025. Still superb food with beyond first class service from Pasquale helped by Aldo. La Vigna is such a change from the chain Italian restaurants like Prezzo. The kitchen has chefs and they are NOT short order chefs. So brilliant, food, service and atmosphere! PS the seats are comfortable.

Surprisingly good seafood! We have had oyster and baby squid for starter then clams spaghetti and roast turbot for main, all very good and fresh. Love my dessert too. Love the menu very good sections of Italian food, too many food in the menu I want to try. Can see why this place is not busy think most people just like a boring menu…but I will definitely be back again soon.

After a long online search and ten months spent in Scotland, we came across a restaurant that immediately conveyed a rare feeling, already from its menu and website: true Italian authenticity, uncompromised and untouched by trends or market expectations. A place that has chosen to remain faithful to its identity. This is how we discovered La Vigna.
On the first evening after its short winter break, thanks to a courteous, quick and efficient booking, we reached the restaurant, located on a quiet side street in the centre of Lanark. We arrived slightly late after getting lost in the countryside, but we were warmly welcomed by Tiziano, the owner and maître, whose natural elegance and kindness made us feel immediately at ease.

The interior instantly brought us back to Italy: a warm and carefully curated atmosphere, a traditional table setting, with bread and grissini already waiting for us. Given the time, we chose two glasses of wine and a starter to share: a puff pastry basket with mushrooms, asparagus and cheese, beautifully presented and perfectly balanced in flavour.

For our main courses, we selected squid ink ravioli filled with sea bass and traditional Valtellina-style pizzoccheri.

Both taste and presentation evoked memories of home. The pizzoccheri were perfectly cooked, with potatoes and black cabbage in harmony, enriched by the distinctive yet delicate flavour of taleggio, served in a warm dish with a light crust on top. Truly comforting and authentic.

The ravioli offered an elegant, refined hint of the sea: the sea bass filling was delicate yet well-defined, never overpowering. Portions were well judged, allowing us to enjoy each dish fully without feeling overly full.
Being from Milan, we have a tradition: the first dessert we try in any new restaurant is tiramisu. Once again, we were not disappointed. In such a simple dessert, true skill is revealed, and here it was executed beautifully.

To finish the evening, Tiziano served us two small glasses of Amaro Montenegro. A spontaneous, genuine gesture, just as one would expect in a beloved Italian restaurant.

All of this was accompanied by attentive yet discreet service, a sense of old-fashioned hospitality, great attention to detail and a sincere passion for Italian culture and cuisine, evident in every dish and in the warm welcome.

Highly recommended for Italians longing for a taste of home — no compromises here, as confirmed by a menu written first and foremost in Italian — but also for anyone seeking an authentic, refined and comforting dining experience. A true indulgence, not only for special occasions.

The total bill was £80, entirely in line with similar restaurants in the area. We will certainly return. If possible, we would happily subscribe.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.❤️

Lovely Italian food restaurant, nice n cosy place , friendly waiters , however the value for your £ , is as usual not there, big plates very small portions, food is eaten very quickly. Massive white bowl with small amounts of pasta it’s a shame. I’d be reluctant to return on that basis, people want value for £.

We took beef carpaccio and tuna carpaccio, both of which felt like they had been marinated for several days (probably waiting for us…). We also took a veal cutlet with wild mushrooms and truffle, it was a cutlet with bone and tough meat with portabella mushrooms. The waiter was polite, the service was good, there were only two of us in the whole restaurant

Google doesn’t have enough stars to truly rate Ristorante La Vigna.

My family popped in by chance after an autumn walk at New Lanark, expecting a standard pizza/ pasta Italian that you would find in most small towns, but were very pleasantly surprised.

This charming restaurant is easily one of the best finds in Scotland. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by Aldo and the warm, welcoming staff – who are exceptionally gracious and attentive.

The restaurant exudes sophistication with its elegant decor, soft lighting, and refined atmosphere of fine dining, but without losing its homey and relaxing feel. We loved how authentic it is, making for a truly special dining experience.

The waiters are masters of their trade, attentive without being overly fussy, and magically appear just when you need a sprig of Parmesan – or another drink.

And the food – wow! It’s fresh and absolutely delicious.

While they don’t have a children’s menu, they were very accommodating and offered to make pasta pomodoro for our fussy kids. Both left with clean plates, which speaks for itself!

Every dish is presented exquisitely, and bursts with flavour; whether you’re indulging in their steak, enjoying super fresh fish and shellfish (my wife’s family hails from the Hebridean islands and set the gold standard for fish critiques), or savouring one of their delightful desserts, wheeled to your table on a cart for you to choose from.

Ristorante La Vigna is a fantastic spot for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience. We can’t recommend it enough!

(I don’t normally photograph food, but did on this occasion)
