Bonker’s Chinese Burger – Review – Chinatown – Washington DC

The burgers at Bonker’s are hot, circular, and contain meat and bread, but that’s where any similarities to the Western concept of the dish end.

Wanted a quick dinner before heading tot he game at Cap1 Arena. Saw this and had to stop by since I saw they had Chinese Burgers.

The Food: Went with the Braised Pork Rice Bowl and the Pork Burger. The rice bowl was delicious. The braised pork was very tender and flavorful. Paired with the rice, onions and the additional chili oil really hit the spot. The Pork Burger was good too, the only thing was the “buns” itself was a little dry/hard for my liking. But the filling was PACKED and delicious. They are pretty generous with their portions here. I love it.

The Service: Food came out in a timely manner. Staff were kind and friendly. No complaints at all.

The Atmosphere: Plenty of seating inside. Order at the kiosk makes it easy and simple. Pretty spacious and clean inside too!

Overall, a solid 4/5. Food was pretty good and the price was fair. I’d definitely come back again.

This no-frills restaurant offers good food!

Staying at a nearby hotel, I wanted to grab a quick dinner. I came across this place searching the internet. While known for its “burgers”, I went for the Chili Cucumber Salad and the Braised Beef Noodles. The cucumber salad had good flavor, though the chili in it wasn’t quite so hot. The noodles were really good! The texture of the noodles was perfect and the broth was delicious…

Service was fast and efficient and seating was ample. This seems to be more of a delivery type spot, but I’d recommend dining in because the food was great served fresh!

As a Chinese ,I must say their food suits our tastes perfectly. If you’re looking for authentic Chinese flavors, this is a great choice. The table is clean, and the dining atmosphere is pleasant. I’ve included the menu with some of our highly recommended dishes; I hope you enjoy them.

For a fast food place it’s good. The price is perfect as it’s in an expensive location. I did the beef sandwich and the Sichuan noodles.

The beef sandwich needs more flavor. The beef isn’t seasoned enough but the texture is perfect. A bit of extra scallions or ones baked into the scallion pancake buns would be awesome.

The noddles are really good but have a weird after taste. Mouthwash will clear it up. They’re much better than I expected for the price.

There is nothing to not love about Old Liu’s.

Fast, punctual, hot. You can order online, which I do and they have it there within 1 min of the estimate. I love the noodles with pork, cucumber salad and Chongqing noodles.

The classic pork burger was really good and flavorful, really juicy, just a bit too salty.

The soup dumplings were pretty good.

Stopped in for a quick dinner and was surprised to find this spot. The food was authentic and delicious- I am still thinking about the Chinese burger. More of a causal grab and go spot but the food was 10/10.

Cute, casual hole-in-the-wall in Chinatown with a handful of tables serving up tasty bites.
We sampled the pork burger (which is more like a sandwich) and is a tad on the salty side. It goes great with the milk tea, which we tried in brown sugar and rose varieties. We also tried the adorable piglets (a two-bite red bean bun) and the yuzu green tea, which was super refreshing!

Surprisingly good Chinese food in DC! Wanted cold noodles on a super hot day and loved the 涼麵. Not the typical kind of noodles I was expecting but delicious all the same. Ordered medium spicy but was just mild to me. Tasty all the same. Dumplings were surprisingly good. The pork “burger” was quite salty, but the “bun” was flaky almost like pastry. I think they used the same meat on the 滷肉飯 (not sure what they call it in English) but mixed with the rice it was fine. Note, the cold noodles are listed under soup noodles for some reason. Give this family run place a try. You won’t regret it.

Bonkers’ Chinese Burger is a pretty unique spot with some interesting flavor combinations. The fusion of Chinese spices with a classic burger worked well, though it didn’t completely blow me away. The buns were fresh, and the burger was flavorful, but I felt like it could use a bit more punch in the seasoning. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and comfortable. Overall, it’s a good spot if you’re in the mood for something different, but I think there’s still room for improvement.
