Goldberg’s Famous Bagels in Pompton Lakes, NJ, is a gem worth visiting! My experience here was nothing short of phenomenal, and I’m happy to share my thoughts.
First off, the location is super convenient with plenty of parking inside the plaza, which is a big plus for anyone familiar with the parking challenges in this area.
The staff are absolutely wonderful—courteous, respectful, patient, and extremely welcoming. Their friendliness makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. A younger gentleman, who I believe might be the owner or manager, was particularly helpful. He went above and beyond to recommend a bagel option for me when the one I originally wanted was out of stock. His recommendations did not disappoint, and I truly appreciated the effort he made to ensure I had a great experience.
Though I visited after lunchtime, which explains why a few options were unavailable, it’s understandable given the popularity of the place. Even then, the overall atmosphere and the attentive service more than made up for it.
The bagels themselves? Amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you’d expect from a place with “famous” in the name.
All in all, Goldberg’s Famous Bagels deserves five stars for their fantastic food, excellent service, and welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great bagel experience!

I’ve ordered from this place numerous times and I’ve never been mad. But today I did a phone pickup order. You could tell the women did not want to be on the phone, didn’t listen to anything I said sadly. I asked for a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel spk extra cheese and scrambled egg. She wasn’t listening and just wanted to hangup so she didn’t hear me say spk or extra cheese. Hung up before I could even say thank you. Just “ok” and hung up. Very sad. I didn’t even want to eat it. Waste of money today 🙁

I had stopped going to this place 1 year ago due to bad customer service the lady at the counter was always angry and rude.
Ok so today I decided to give it a try again. BIG BIG MISTAKE. Spent $20.00 for a burned bagel with 2 slices of taylor ham on an egg bagel which was supposed be an everything bagel. A cold ham sandwich no chips But what makes me mad is the amount of money we spent and the guy had the courage to give me a burned bagel impossible to eat. I wonder “would he eat his bagel like that?”
And what they can do ? NOTHING absolutely nothing. They are good to take your money but not good to keep a good customer service.
The bagel place up the street it is much better.

Literally have ordered online 4 different times. The st time it actually came it was wrong and the other 3 times “cancelled” it but didnt actually cancel it each time so i waited over an hr for them to tell me opps thought i cancelled it. I kept trying to give them a chance but the experience is awful and honestly not worth it for mediocre food.

Order panckes whith scrambles eggs whith chease .They put panckes whith chease on top disgastin. My colleagues and I used to order from them for over a year now. Even though I found plastic inside their empanada we continued to order. When I called to let them know what I found the “manager’s” respond was “uhhh what exactly would you like us to do” it was a guy btw, completely uninterested and just an awkward conversation. He lacks in everything as food industry manager, lack of control, no communication skills and no solution really. He provided a $2.75 credit toward my next order. Which my silly self then ordered something else the next day and I told them to apply it but some other lady said “we refunded you the whole order back to the card”. Well it’s been a week but no refund. We were also accused of us not paying an order from supposedly months ago so what they did was made us think we agreed to pay tip over the phone (which by the way we did not authorize) and charged us double the amount. We called to discuss and the same lady had such a nasty attitude. “Don’t call again we will not take your order. All you guys do is cause issues” and as we were trying to get answers she just hung up on us. (this is the polite version).
This deli is unprofessional, they lack in communication and well they not only lost one customer. They lost a full company amount of customers.

I wish 0 stars was an option!!! I ordered 2 omelettes: 1 was Turkey, feta & spinach. The other vegetables ONLY. The first omelette had no feta or spinach and the vegetable one had turkey in it – and one of us is allergic to meat. When we went back to the restaurant, they refused to remake our order or refund us. In addition, they told us that they were not the ones to mess up. And to top it all off, there was a hair that very obviously wasn’t ours inside the omelet (Pictured below)

Ordered plain bagel with eggs bacon & cheese w/ pepper, salt ketchup. Paid w tax $7 plus. Togo. The bagel was like a sponge and no bacon. I’m going to call now and complain.

After my third negative experience here I feel an honest review is warranted. I have only ever ordered plain bagels with cream cheese and a coffee here. Pretty standard and in NJ (especially from a place called “Goldbergs”) you would expect an edible bagel and decent coffee. NOPE. The coffee is off- acidic, wrong temp and once even they put in spoiled cream. The bagels are inconsistent. Today I actually thought I was being pranked. Basically a dense, slightly raw bagel smooshed and with like an entire package of cream cheese on it.
Go back to bagel school.
