This is a lovely mom & pop Thai place. Many of the sauces are homemade and are fantastic. Salad with ginger and garlic sauce amazing. Excellent beef panang curry.
It’s small inside and the turnover was quick for a Friday night. Pleasant server who is the son of the owners.

One of the best Thai restaurants in Hartford. I can double down on it. Food, Interiors, Staff, Ambiance, Quality, Quantity of food portions were all great. Bonus is free parking. In my opinion, authentic Thai food. I’ve been there a couple of times. I would recommend this place to a friend

So my wife and I were driving back to NYC from Maine and the trip is fairly long (around 6 hours). I didn’t want to stop at a rest stop, so we Googled Thai food. Pulling off the highway and stopping and King & I Thai was a terrific decision.
The atmosphere was cozy, hospitable, and comfortable. The food was delicious, the portions were generous and loaded with flavor. The hot oil was something to write home about – for real, give it a shot, the heat factor is pretty high, but it’s loaded with a smokey, garlicky taste. And the mango sticky rice dessert was terrific (fresh mango in the winter!?!).
But what really makes this place spectacular is Kasey’s (the young owners) commitment to sharing his family’s food with you in as warm, friendly, and generous a manner as possible.
If I’m ever in Hartford again, I’m most certainly stopping at the King & I.

Fresh food, clean establishment, quick service. It’s not a lavish place, small and cozy, but the food speaks for itself.
Ordered the steamed chicken dumplings, the pineapple fried rice with duck and Panang. Can’t go wrong with those choices.

Good service, clean, quick and fair prices. My downside was that massaman curry is by far one of the most popular Thai dishes in America -the one I tried didn’t measure up. I tried others curry from so various cities and states but this one was disappointing in the proportions of the meat and vegetables. Taste was okay but lacking color. Above all it had almost no meat for the price I paid. The atmosphere in the place is very cozy, small and romanticish. I would go again to give them a second try with a different dish.

I like this place and being there gives you a sense of eating at home. I ate traditional Thai fried rice with chicken and it was damn good. This tasted like authentic Thai food in the US like I had in Thailand. Also, I tried the ice Thai tea and it was okay. It tastes like cream and water with aroma of tea. However, I would rate 5 star for this place.
