Delicious home cooking served with a smile. We visited Farmhouse from Sherwood Forest Fair. We ordered the club sandwich and fish/shrimp tacos. The club sandwich meat tastes like it was cut off a ham and the turkey off the breast. The bread was perfect. The tacos were super tasty and fresh.
My boyfriend said the banana pudding tasted like a grandma made it as did the banana bread.

Supper here for the first time on 1/31/2026. Had onion rings for appetizers. Plentiful portion. Sweet onion in a crisp crust. Ranch dressing added to the flavor. Entrée was the Farmhouse Strip, 10 Oz. Cooked to perfection. Tender and juicy. Shared steak with my wife. We each had fresh garden salad. Baked potatoes were not quite ready to serve, but we were honored to be served scalloped potatoes instead. Delicious!
Farmhouse Kitchen is a little off the beaten path, but we’ll worth the trip. Excellent service. A very pleasant dining experience.
Total cost for entire meal was under $60. Beats Longhorn Steakhouse or Texas Roadhouse by a country mile.

What a hidden gem! Lovely countryside view, with the restaurant about a quarter mile up the road from the sign on the way a large pond accompanied by a gazebo and benches, so peaceful and quiet! Outside the restaurant there’s Cornhole games set up to play. Inside big open area with plenty places to sit. A stage set up for possible love performances. Music quietly playing in the background. The hostess, sweet, patient and kind.
The food… Oh the food! Pricing is fair for portioning and quality. You HAVE to try that salsa! We were there for breakfast. Had the omelettes. Perfectly cooked. I don’t like hash browns but I liked theirs! The only thing was the biscuit was dry. Coffee was strong, water didn’t taste funny. It was just great!

A hidden gem! The best fries and onion rings. They fry In beef tallow which delicious and much better for you. Everything is so fresh – farm to market! A great experience! Worth the trip!

There’s a hidden gem just outside of Elgin/McDade area. I went to take a friend to breakfast and found the most serene, friendly, customer focused restaurant with great food. I had the banana bread french toast with sausage. The butter is delicious and light. Felt like it was homade.
Now this in the country side on a farm. I’m upset that on this trip I did not take a picture of the beautiful scenery that you are immersed into just by going to this restaurant. On the property there’s this huge pond with this gorgeous gazebo. Now I did not have time to walk over there and visit it but I will the next time. Previously the property was purchased to have weddings and events. However the new owners are wanting to do events and so have kept the pristine look of the property. Truly this is a hidden gem and if you need to get away and relax for a couple of hours, this is it. There’s a calm there. The food is great. The owners and the staff are amazing. Honestly I can’t imagine anyone having a bad experience there. You’d have to be in a bad mood.

When I say the chef did NOT disappoint! He did not disapoint!! The ribeye was amazingly tender and cooked to perfection. The banana pudding was very good!! Will definitely revisit! If you want a nice cozy dinner place where you can watch the sunset without a 45 minute wait to be seated (for now) away from the now busy Bastrop…check them out!!

Had hamburger steak with mushrooms and onions and gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans. Green beans are a little salty and the mushrooms didn’t seem to be sauteed enough. The hamburger steak was a little fluffy and that it didn’t want to stay together when you stuck a fork and a piece. But the flavor was good and everything tasted okay and the service was great. Had onion rings for an appetizer and they were excellent homemade. My wife had the stick fingers and she said that they were good as well.

Another good little hidden gem! Food was great and service was good. Went on a Saturday was gonna try the lunch menu but they don’t serve lunch till after 1200(we arrived around 1120) so we had the breakfast which was probably just as good!

Visited on a Friday evening around 6:30. The drive to the restaurant is nice and it is easy to find. The restaurant was not busy.
I ordered the ribeye, medium-rare, with a baked potato and the broccoli salad. My steak was cooked to order and was tender. My baked potato was good. The broccoli salad was a tad on the sweet side.
My friend ordered the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. He said his food was okay, but nothing to rave about.
Our waitress forgot things like condiments and napkins. Service was passable.
The atmosphere could use a boost, maybe with background music.
On the whole, the visit was unremarkable. But with limited options in the area, would probably visit again. Perhaps for breakfast…

From the time we walked in the door, the experience was absolutely spectacular! The food reminds you of childhood, just like grandma use to make. Simone was amazing. She made us feel like family.
