This was probably the best spot around, when we attended fleet week at the Staten Island home pier.
There was absolutely no wait, in our waiter was very helpful and courteous.
Nice rustic decor in the middle of Staten Island, I appreciate the effort which added points to the dining experience.
The salads were not super fresh and the salmon was roughly mid grade, but the whole lunch was very filling and the location was fun, especially people watching across the big front window.
This is definitely a safe bet in the area.

Great restaurant 10 minutes from the Verrazzano Bridge! Easy on and off.
There is lots of street parking and they also offer valet parking.
There is a full bar and plenty of seating. The lunch special is amazing, great choices for $19.
The food was plentiful and delicious. I almost finished my paella before I remembered to snap a photo. Ditto the delicious coffee
The staff is friendly and efficient. You are welcome to linger or get right back on the road.
Definitely recommend this clean, charming place.

Service is great. As soon as we were sat we got bread, olives and Parmesan cheese, everything was perfect.
We ordered mussels, mushroom with goat cheese and oysters. For the entrees specialty pasta with sea food and tuna with salad. All food was extremely delicious.
Interior inside is gorgeous, music was calm and pleasant.
Certainly we’ll come here when visit Staten Island again.
If you want eat delicious food, come to this restaurant and you won’t regret!

Outside dining at Taverna on the Bay was pleasant. The restaurant has a caring staff, that treated us with diligence and kindness. The complimentary cheese was very nice, and the cutting of it from the big wheel added to the atmosphere. I ordered the special of the day which was a 1 1/2 pound of lobster that could be served however you wanted it, along with some crab cakes as my appetizer. The food was delicious, but it seemed my entree needed a bit more seasoning. I had a taste of my families entree, so it was just my meal, most likely my fault. Definitely know what you want in terms of how the dish is prepared. The one downside is that the outside is swarming with mosquitos, which can’t be controlled, yet I wish they had lit bug repellents because my family member was bitten 11 times.

A friend recommended Taverna on the Bay to me. They said the food was good. They lied, the food was absolutely delicious. Upon entering we were graciously greeted by the owner and his wife. They personally checked on us several times making sure our experience there was optimal. The service overall was phenomenal and the food from appetizers through dessert was on par with some of the best restaurants I have been to. I look forward to the opening of Taverna Pizza, and the Party Room next door.

We came here for dinner on a Friday night made the reservation same day and it wasn’t too packed we were seated quickly. Service was good until the end I know we were talking and maybe they assumed we weren’t ready to leave but it took a while for check but not a big deal. Appetizers we had: stuffed mushrooms with goat cheese – so good, and we had oysters which didn’t come with any lemon and they were alright. I had seafood risotto, it came in a red sauce so it wasn’t what I was expecting so it was alright, my friend had the cavatelli pasta with shrimp she said the pasta was a little too Al dente for her but it was good. The tiramisu was sooo tasty, and our drinks were good she had espresso martini which was amazing and I had sangria (little sweet) but still very good.

First! The house made sangria is different from other sangrias I’ve tasted. It was an unexpected pleasant surprise.
In fact I don’t usually order it because most sangrias taste like soda pop. Not this. Full bodied wine with delicate hints of fruit.
Often the fruit and non alcoholic additives just overwhelm the drink. Not here. Order the full bottle and take a cab home.
The food was exquisite from the shelled escargot, to the tangy shrimp and paella cake, to delicately sweet sea bass, and my own shrimp cavetelli. Cheese cake and tartufo finished off and a complementary brandy finished off a lovely meal. It is worth the ride over on the ferry, getting soaked in the downpour walking over, and relaxing in a very intimate, yet casual setting. The staff is well versed in the culinary delights. Trust them with your questions and recommendations.
