My friends and I recently came here on a busy Saturday night. With no Chinese speaker in our group, we initially had a hard time figuring out how the waitlist worked. We were able to pin down one of the servers in the middle of the restaurant, and waited in front of the entrance to make sure that we could snag a table once it becomes available.
Without much knowledge of their popular menu, it took a while to browse through their huge menu. We eventually got a few dishes from their house specials. House empress chicken was our favorite, but we also liked the minced pork with lam-toy and string. The chicken was served cold, but it was still very flavorful with a special sauce on the side. It was also nice to accompany minced pork and lam-toy with some fried rice as it added savoriness that the rice was lacking. Only thing we thought was average was the jumbo shrimp with mixed vegetables.
Overall, we really liked the quality of the food for the price, and we will definitely be back to try more of their house specials.
Service was quick and easy.
The staff member openly complained about our order to familiar customers in Cantonese, saying that only ordering one porridge for takeaway was “a waste of his time,” while giving us an unfriendly look. Unfortunately for him, I understand Cantonese, so I clearly knew what was being said.
We were then left waiting for about 10 minutes with no explanation, even though the food appeared to be ready. Only after I asked how much longer we needed to wait did he finally bring the porridge out from the kitchen.
As travelers visiting Boston, this kind of disrespectful and discriminatory behavior left a very bad impression. Food is not just about taste — basic courtesy and professionalism matter. I would not recommend this place based on our experience.
As for the food we had a fantastic chicken, and crispy rice bowl, tofu and braised pork, and an egg wash pork chop. Oh and some really good Chinese vegetable. If you like good Chinese food this is a good place.
PST: I’m a tourist in Boston and stayed for only two nights, but I’ve been this place twice and take back some food back my home !!
We ordered 3 dishes, steamed fish ($3x), fried tofu clay pot ($1x), and seasonal veggies ($17). A total of $70 for two.
-Steamed fish ingredients were exactly how I liked it, with scallions and soy cause. It was a bit over steamed or maybe the fish was not fresh. Hence a 4 star on fish alone.
-The same with veggies, it was too oily. 4 star on veggies alone.
-The tofu fish I really enjoyed and would give it a 5.
All these factors combined with poor sanitary conditions of the restaurant, I would give it a 4 overall: Taste matter most!
