Brutally Honest Review
This is hands down the worst Indian food experience I’ve had in New Zealand… I genuinely don’t understand where all the positive reviews are coming from it makes me question if some people have ever had real Indian food in their life…
I ordered the tandoori chicken and it tasted nothing like tandoori… The marinade was completely off unpleasant,artificial and far from the authentic tandoori flavour… I’ve eaten tandoori chicken hundreds of times before and this wasn’t even close…
Next was the cheese & garlic naan… There was no cheese… Barely any garlic… I was literally tearing the naan apart trying to find where the cheese was hiding turns out, it wasn’t there at all…
Money completely wasted based on misleading reviews… The only decent item was the mango lassi not amazing but drinkable… Everything else was just bad…
I honestly don’t know how this place survives in the food industry serving food like this… This is not Indian food… If you’ve had proper Indian cuisine before,this place will disappoint you badly…
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone who values flavour,authenticity or quality…

Amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious with authentic Indian flavors that really stand out. they tasted fresh, well spiced, and perfectly cooked. The portion sizes were generous and worth the price.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our visit. The atmosphere was clean, warm, and perfect for enjoying a good meal with friends or family.
If you’re looking for tasty Indian food with great service, this place is definitely worth visiting. I’ll be coming back again for sure!

I had a great experience at the spice curry kitchen restaurant. The food was flavorful and fresh, especially the curries and naan, and the service was friendly and quick. The best Indian food we’ve eaten in Nelson. The naan is light and fluffy and slightly crispy — the perfect naan— and the curries were all superb. The chef also whippped up a vegetable jalfrezi on request, and it was a standout dish of freshly cooked slightly crunchy vegetables in a spicy sauce with little pops possibly of cumin and coriander. Services was excellent, and the price was really reasonable; we wouldn’t hesitate to give The Curry Kitchen 10 out of 10.

Amazing food, extremely flavourful! Loved this place, it’s really affordable and the service is great. Many different dishes and also a lot of vegetarian options which isn’t very common. Always again if I’d be possible, unfortunately only travelling through. But would definitely recommend the place

Wow Nelson what a gem! I have stuck to our usual haunts and thought I would give these newcomers a go. Aside from their original menu items the prices themselves are way below the other restaurants. I was a bit suspicious, but needn’t have been. The food was fresh, well constructed, and generous. Service was attentive, understated, and very professional. The decor is good but not polished like the chain restaurants, which may put some off, but look beyond. This is my new first choice. If you haven’t tried yet, do yourself a favor. I had mushroom prawn with naan (prawn dish not pictured). It was beyond expectation and the naan (pictured) was layered and delicate. I highly recommend you give these guys a try.

Wow, This place is amazing! I came here for the lunch special thali and was absolutely blown away. The selection of curry’s and care the chef puts into his Thalis is top notch.
The butter chicken was probably the best butter chicken I have had in my life and the lamb curry was melt in your mouth good!
Sadly I don’t live in Nelson so I am going to miss this place till next time! The chef is also a really nice guy and provided us amazing service even though we were the only people in the restaurant for lunch!

We got the Spice Shahi Banquet for 2, and we got to taste ten different dishes and the size of the portions were really generous.

We have ordered Palak Paneer, Tandoori chicken and naan. The food was amazing and satisfied us very well. The prices are also very reasonable.
The staff is super friendly but the it takes a while to get your food as the place is under staffed and very busy. We have waited one hour to get our food. Hope they can improve on this.
I recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing Indian food in Nelson. You may call and order before reach there.
