Run don’t walk to JNL Barbecue at Buzz Mill off E. Riverside.
Today, I decided to treat myself with an adult beverage and lunch. Once I read about JNL, I just had to try it and they did not disappoint.
I got the Peach Glazed Pork Belly with a single order of Cole Slaw. The slaw was vinegar based and so tasty I ate it quicker than I anticipated. The pork belly did not let me down either. I am a sucker for a piece of fatty meat and I can’t say enough good things about this dish. The peach taste was perfect. It was just the right sweetness and vinegar blend to make it a perfect combination with the pork. I asked for the barbecue sauce to try and the peach and pork also worked well with the sauce. I could actually just eat the sauce with a spoon though if I wanted to. All that food was under $20!
This plate paired great with the strawberry jalapeño tequila from Buzz Mill!

Hidden gem in the heart of Austin! JNL feels like Central Texas BBQ’s best kept secret (never waited long to get mind-blowing food)! I went for a Japanese Curry pop-up and was shocked that it tasted both authentic to Japan but uniquely smoky. Smoke can get lost in so many plates but it was still pronounced but appropriate. Give them a try and I promise you will not regret a meal at their modest trailer!

Not only is the food absolutely phenomenal and unique in a town full of BBQ, but the owners are so cool, and have created an amazing community around the Buzz Mill area. You cannot go wrong with anything, but I’ll say my personal favorite is the BLT, and if you’re extra hungry and they have it available, add the turkey. Wings are fire, burger is fire, and of course, any of the BBQ. You do need to go within the parameters of their hours listed because, like any good food truck in Austin, they will run out, so don’t be mad and post reviews because you came too late. This is a thing that happens everywhere.

Austin treasure. Everyone has their favorite BBQ spot in town, this is mine.

The brisket is great, love the option to select lean-fatty cuts. Sausages are great, green beans with bacon are tasty and don’t sleep on the Sunday turkey BLT !

A bag of chicharrones will hold you over during the weekdays as you wait for their weekend hours to roll back around.

Thanks y’all!

I arrived late, and the only meat left was pulled pork! The pulled pork sandwich was amazing. I will definitely go back the next time I am in Austin!

In town on a whim and decided to check out JNL BBQ

Lord have mercy. The brisket was like butter melting into my mouth.

The links were spicy with a garlicky punch

But the star of the show

THE PASTOR RIBS!!! I love Mexican flavors and this was beyond perfect. The meat fell right off the rib

Their BBQ sauce was amazing. The meat was so damn good you didn’t even need it!!!

I’ll be back!

I loved this place and I hope they come back, if not to Buzzmill but to another location.

Pulled pork and brisket were great and if your nice you could even get a tour of the smoker. It wasn’t HUGE, but when you talked to them you could tell they they really enjoyed BBQ and it was reflected in their food.

Talk about flavor! Al Pastor ribs are as good as they are genius. I am surprised this hasn’t caught on. Big Mexican flavor while still being true to being BBQ. Y’all need to bottle that bbq sauce!

The pit master, Ben, knows exactly how to make these meats MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. The brisket is fire and has so much flavor. Plus the co-owner, Joe, is super friendly and authentic. This place deserves 100 stars for the food, music and vibes!
