My friend and I spent $155 at the restaurant. I was highly disappointed as I asked for tacos and I’m allergic to cilantro. I asked for the toppings and I was informed there was only cheese, pico de gallo, and cilantro. I wasn’t even offered avocado as my friend got on her dish. A good recommendation would be lettuce, cheese, diced tomato, and sour cream. I also recommend they invest in black beans as everyone doesn’t want red and refried beans. Customer service is good but I would also recommend asking customers if they would like their drink opened before assuming. The space is quaint and it was full so we had to wait a bit before being seated which is good for the business and I understood that part. The food was good but can be modernized.

May I say they have the best pupusas in the whole state. Their horchata also is 10/10. Every time I’ve had the food here its been phenomenal.

I like this place the most out of the Salvadoran places on Broadway. I personally think their best deal is the montecristo plate (~$16).
I was absolutely shocked when I first got it. Came with rice, beans, fresh tortillas, salad, queso fresco, a GIANT piece of steak, yuca frita, and a whole strip or Chicharron and a sweet plantain. Try the Chicharron and plantain mixed together–the sweetness really balances out the natural saltiness of the pork and it’s so good!!

Delicious, homey, well-priced, no frills Salvadoran food! We enjoyed everything we ordered with gusto. Our favorite main was the Gordita (chicken) sandwich and our favorite bite was the nuegados – chewy and fluffy and cheesy yuca bites, perfect savory or sweet – dipped in the syrup that accompanies them, or topped with curtido. The pupusas were tasty as well. We could tell everything was freshly made – from the horchata to the pupusas and fried plantains. We got 5 dishes and three drinks and the bill totaled $50 which we thought was quite a good deal – especially because we had probably enough food for another meal to take home. Our server was also very kind and patient, taking the time to explain each dish carefully when we didn’t know what it was. Our only note is that the food took about 25 minutes to arrive but it was worth it and we didn’t mind the wait – fun music and horchata kept us enjoying ourselves. We’ll be back!!

the tacos birria were good. very big, not authentic made but still really good flavor. the pupusa came cold, so I had to hear it up a bit. the pork/chicharon was good. nice size chunks. I ordered it with rice and tortillas as side orders. The horchata was tasty came ice cold.

I highly recommend Montecristo! The entire staff was great! They helped us make decisions on what we should try and their recommendations did not disappoint. We tried a number of different dishes and they were all amazing. Best papusas loroco and garnachas! They have outdoor seating and plenty of street parking available. This family owned restaurant is one to try!

We came around 9 AM today (Saturday) and they were open! (: The food was fresh and delicious. I asked for the ceviche without clamato and the quesadilla with only the meat and cheese (no rice or veggies inside). The service was friendly. Would 100% come back and recommend to others.
