We drove nearly an hour and a half just to try Aokicho, and it was worth every single mile.

This was hands down some of the best sushi I’ve had anywhere in the United States. The flavors were rich, bold, and perfectly balanced — each bite exploded with class and culture. Every roll, every slice, every sample made us feel like we were sitting in Tokyo rather than near Houston.

What made the experience even more special is that the shop is run by a mother and son — truly inspiring to see family working together at such a high level. Tonight we even had the privilege of having the owner behind the cutting block, which elevated the entire experience. You can taste the pride, precision, and passion in every dish.

If you’re anywhere in Houston and appreciate authentic, high-quality sushi, this is an absolute must-try spot. Shout out to our server Cody he did great!

We will definitely be back.

We had an amazing experience at Ackicho Sushi! The tuna tataki was absolutely incredible—perfectly savory with just the right kick of spice. The steak hibachi was cooked to perfection, not overdone or undercooked, with the temperature and flavor spot on.
The spicy garlic edamame was super fresh, hot, and boldly spicy in the best way—so delicious! Honestly, everything we tried was outstanding, and you can really taste the quality and care in each dish.
And don’t skip the strawberry mocktail—so refreshing and yummy, the perfect finishing touch. This place truly exceeded expectations. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend giving it a try! ✨

We really enjoyed our meal. The service was good, the place had a nice vibe, and it was clean. Food service was a bit slow during busy times, but that’s totally understandable. We want to give a shout-out to all the chefs and staff. We’ll definitely be back.

Aokicho, showed up as a new sushi restaurant that just opened in the League City area. So we had to come out and give it a try.

This is well worth a visit!

The bad to get it out the way: the service could use improvement. They don’t check on you often if at all. Even when you ring them using the tablet. We were unable to get refills, or get our check to leave.

Everything else for what you get is great.

Sushi Lovers, order the Smoked Salmon ASAP! This was to die for. We ordered an additional 5, max is 5 per order fyi. With a 5 min delay to place next order, 5 more. That’s how good it was.

Appetizers: While I’m not a fan of coconut. These coconut shrimp were next level. Believe the dipping sauce has a hint of condensed milk for that sweetness and paired with the shrimp. This was another item we ordered more of.

The Gyoza would be my next suggestion. It had a great crispy edge, while still have a soft center, perfectly balanced. And even better flavor on the inside. We went with pork on our visit. Another item we ordered more rounds of.

The rolls were good, just not as notable as the other items we tried.

They also offer Ramen bowls, but we had our filling by then. It was too much for us to explore more.

We will definitely be back for more. I hope they continue to maintain the level of quality they currently have when they just opened for years to come. It’s a welcomed spot to the area offering great quality sushi and more.

How was your visit?
What are some of your favorites?

Until next time.

I called ahead specifically to ask if they had cooked sushi, and Tina assured me they did. That was false. This is overwhelmingly a raw sushi AYCE with very few cooked options. Had they been honest, we never would’ve come.

Our server, Kendell, was inattentive and uninformed. This was our first visit and nothing was explained, until I asked. She gave us incorrect information, including telling us we wouldn’t be charged for uneaten food and telling us we don’t have to finish everything, which turned out to be untrue.

The tablet ordering system is awful: unsanitary, confusing, and it wastes valuable AYCE time. The menu doesn’t clearly label raw vs. cooked items, and everything is mixed together. Most rolls arrived raw and were inedible for us. We had a lot, what we thought was cooked, turned out to be a mix of raw with cooked.

Even worse, it was overwhelmingly impossible to tell what was raw versus cooked. Many rolls mix raw and cooked ingredients, and the menu provides no clarification.

We specifically asked Kendell, and she told us she didn’t know. We were then told by another waiter to “just remove the raw parts,” which is a serious cross-contamination concern. Not knowing what was raw vs. cooked completely killed our appetite.

When this was raised, Tina (the host/business partner) attempted to charge us for food we didn’t eat, throwing out made-up prices (like $20) that appear nowhere on the menu. She was rude, confrontational, and even falsely claimed it was illegal to record.

Only when Justin, the owner, stepped in did anyone act professionally. He admitted the menu confusion was their fault.

Service overall was poor: one napkin for the entire meal, rolls dropped off with zero explanation, and no check-ins, Kendell kept disappearing, she came snatched my bao I was still eating on, placed it in the busser bin and never came back out!

For $32, you get clunky dishware and Sysco ice cream cups passed off as AYCE dessert. Ironically, Tina had previously asked me for dessert recommendations over the phone, including what kind of cheesecake they should add, so that says a lot.

The only things I enjoyed were the fried bao and shrimp robata. Most items were heavily sauced.

Do yourself a favor and go to Sushi Moshi instead.

Great service and food! Fish was fresh and fried foods were decent. Everything came out at different times on individual plates versus all together on a large platter.

Advice: offer different sauces for the fried foods. Tentsuyu (tempura sauce) for tempura would be great. Kewpie would be a great addition to the wings. The sweet chili sauce offered wasn’t a good pairing.

Loved the claw machines at the entrance. Didn’t love that the claw loosened its grip quickly. Still had fun. 🙂

We went during their 3rd day soft opening and upon entering, their decor is so beautiful. Very upscale and modern vibes. The thought and details they put into decorations really stood out to me.

The service was great as well. Ash and Jacob were attentive and checked on us frequently to see if everything is okay. Super friendly and easy going.

The food here is awesome. The fishes were fresh. I love that they had mini chirashi and poke bowl options for when youre craving the rice and fish combo. I really love their tonkatsu broth! It was truly rich and bold without it being too salty.

I haven’t had the opportunity to order any specialty rolls this visit since I got full way too early but that will be an updated review for next time.

My husband said that he loves the portion sizes. His favorites were the appetizers such as the edamame, chicken wings, and the robata skewers. My son really loves their salmon hibachi and the cheese puffs! I liked almost everything I ordered, however some of the sushi appetizers could be a bit too salty with too much fried garlic. Overall, this place has a lot of potential. A solid 4.5 stars! We cant wait to come back when they have their grand opening!

OBSESSED with Aokicho!!! We’ve been constantly since they opened. We’re AYCE veterans and they’re by far our all-time favorite. The food is fantastic, the owners and staff are tremendous people. Every single time we go it’s awesome from start to finish. They also take the BAHFL card for parties of 4. We LOVE Aokicho!!!!

We checked out the new AYCE sushi spot in League City near Webster, and honestly, it was one of the best experiences we’ve had in the area. We’ve been to several AYCE places around Houston, but this one stood out for its Japanese vibe and beautiful interior with Bonsai trees. You can tell they put thought into the ambiance it felt calm, clean, and welcoming.

We started with the snow crab salad (solid 8/10)
The spicy crawfish salad, which was incredible definitely a 10/10.

For appetizers, the garlic edamame was next-level, easily a 100/10 and a must-order.
On the flip side, the Aoki chicken wings were a miss; over-fried, bland, and not worth keeping on the menu (1/10).

From the sushi appetizer section, we tried the tuna, salmon, and steak tataki. All were good, but the steak was unreal 20/10, tender and flavorful.
The Aoki special scallops served over seaweed were another highlight, fresh and buttery, also a 20/10.
The beef robata was so good I regretted not ordering more from the start. Next time, I’m doubling up early.

We also had sashimi yellowtail, octopus, scallop, and seared Kobe beef. I’m not a sashimi expert, but the seafood smelled fresh and tasted clean. The Kobe beef was the star; moist, tender, and worth every bite (20/10).

As for rolls, the Houston roll was decent (8/10)
The Sky Diver with softshell crab was excellent (10/10)
The Spiderman roll was also worth trying (9/10).
The lobster roll was good too (8/10).

We also tried the salmon roe and other fish eggs, which were fresh with a clean pop. Not everyone’s go-to, but if you enjoy that ocean flavor and texture, they were well done here and worth sampling.

We finished with the combination yakiudon; great flavor, especially the steak and shrimp mixed with the noodles.

A few things could be better:
1- After our first roll, I asked the waiter to tell the chef to tone down the sauces, and that made a huge difference; the flavors really came through after that.
2- The chicken wings need to go.
3- Also, having the option for 4-piece rolls instead of 8 would help people try more variety.

What really stood out:
– The interior was top-tier for an AYCE spot.
– Fish cuts were fresh and clean.
– Service was fast, especially for a new restaurant.
– Every beef dish was tender and memorable.
– Most importantly, the staff made the experience special. Cody, our waiter, was friendly, helpful, and gave great recommendations. The owner and other staff checked in throughout the night, and that kind of attention makes a big difference.

We’ll definitely be back.
