I also noticed the live crabs in the case. After inquiring, the employee took one in the back to clean it up. Then he gave me advice on how to cook it.
The crab cake did seem a little pricey for a 6 ounce cake. And it was a little bland but overall a decent experience.
Seriously, anyone who’s worked in the seafood business for more than a week knows good from bad. I can only assume they have poor inventory control and do not care. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Honestly, I really wanted to like this place. When I walked in, another customer was at the counter talking to the employee, so I waited more than 6 feet away. Turns out, the other customer was just waiting, but the employee ignored me. Another customer entered a couple minutes after me and got service almost immediately by another employee. The waiting customer walked away, so I approached the counter. The employee behind the counter was focused on putting utensils and condiments into two plastic bags, so I was ignored for several more minutes (not exaggerating the time). Finally, I was told my order, which was placed four hours ago, was not quite ready even though I was exactly on time for the pickup. Ten minutes later I was on my way home with my order.
Two soups were in one bag. The other bag contained an appetizer and two “entrees”., and weighed about as much as one medium no-meat salad. The rubbery, overcooked Stuffed Mushrooms ranged in size from a quarter to a half-dollar. My Stuffed Shrimp “entree” was a single medium sized butterflied shrimp with a golf-ball sized “crab cake”. Think “amuse bouche” instead of “entree”. The “crab cake” had nearly zero identifiable crab meat – almost all filler. The photo of the “Stuffed Shrimp” entree on the website (included in my review for comparison) showed THREE stuffed shrimp. Even if there were three, it would still be appetizer sized. The Stuffed Mushrooms also had a much more flattering photo on the website. I think this practice is known as “bait and switch”. The Maryland Crab and Cream of Crab soups were OK – and no better than OK. I will confess that I am partially culpable, since I did not pay sufficient attention to the prices. In retrospect, the prices, at least for the “entrees”, were suspiciously low (and yet still overpriced).
Absolutely delicious and on point. This was plenty of food for 2 adults. Corn and potatoes were cooked perfectly. Shrimp were twice the size of any other we’ve gotten at any seafood restaurant. The price was more than ideal, this portion would cost close to $100 anywhere else. I’m pretty sure that says it all, will definitely be returning for more!!!
