This place is the worst. The floors were sticky and disgusting. We didn’t even eat there. The food was BLAND!! Even the guacamole! The service was terrible. They dont use gloves and eat as they are making your food. What is advertised on the windows they do not have. They lie about what they can make in order to have to make something fresh. The peppers sit out uncovered collecting bacteria. There are 3 women in the kitchen and only 1 speaks English. They will only give you a receipt for the total. A manager has to come to print you out an itemized receipt so you can see what you are paying for. DO NOT GO HERE

We started with the chips and salsa, gratis. We really liked the salsa verde along with a side of super fresh guacamole that we ordered. The al pastor (pork with onions and pineapples in a red chile marinade) was very flavorful and not dry at all, I’ll order it again. The cecina (beef taco meat?) was tender and I prefer it over asada. I also had an agua fresca, limon con chia, I think. It was like a homemade fresh limeade and I could drink it all day, very refreshing and not too sweet or too sour. My husband had horchata (sweet cinnamon rice water) that also tasted homemade. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise on a holiday afternoon when most others were closed, I’m glad we took our friend’s suggestion! I didn’t give one star to atmosphere because the tv was blaring and it was hard to hear each other, although we had good service, the staff wasn’t in sight for us to ask for things like our drinks (momentarily forgotten) and to turn down the tv.

I’ve been told that the best Mexican food can be found in the back of Mexican grocery stores and I found this to be true at La Mexicana #2. Now, I’m not Mexican nor have I traveled to any Latin American countries so I can’t say that the food is authentic or make any such claim but I do know good food when I see it and taste it and it was delicious. The decor is simple, just roughly 9 small booths and two tables and a TV on the wall on the Univision channel along with several colorful paintings on the wall depicting traditional Mexican life. There are a couple of refrigerators filled with Mexican bottled pop as well as regular offerings. I ordered a large quesadilla with Al Pastor along with tomatoes, sour cream and onion. I was given the option to have it made with a freshly made tortilla which I had and I’m glad that I did. They also provided chips and red and green salsa in squeeze bottles. The chips were delicious and the salsas had a nice smoky flavor to them. I received my quesadilla in about 5 minutes. It was huge! The flavors were very good and the fresh tortilla was delicious. The one thing I was thinking could be better would be to provide salsa in a dish to dip my chips into. I have been in places before where the chips and salsa have been presented the same way. I prefer the dish compared to directly squeezing it on each chip. This of course is a minor suggestion. The meal was great and very satisfying. I will definitely stop in again when I’m in the mood for Mexican food and happen to be in the area.

I need to come back for a follow up review and I might change a couple aspects of my review.
The food was good. The price of the food could have been a little better for what we got. But otherwise no complaints. They were a little busy, so the review on service could be changed as I don’t know their situation. Everyone was friendly.
We had no issues with this location, just marked it for how we thought they earned for that particular day. I will still be back!
