We had the pleasure to visit Sons of Smoke for the first time last Saturday for lunch. We had to see if all of the positive reviews were accurate. We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed it immensely. Our waitress was Buffy and she was a pure delight. I had the 3 meat platter with brisket, pulled pork and smoked bologna. The sides were baked beans and the white cheddar mac & cheese. I’m really not a mac & cheese fan, but I will always order their version when I go back. My wife ordered the brisket nachos and really enjoyed them. Their servings were huge and we had more than enough to have a carry out and enjoy all of this again! I strongly encourage BBQ fans to try Sons of Smoke!!

Our absolute favorite local BBQ place. We always start with the cheese curds, which are the best I’ve ever had. You can’t go wrong with any of the meats. Even the catfish, which they sometimes have on Fridays or Saturdays, is fantastic. Yesterday I got the combo platter with smoked meatloaf, smoked bologna, and chopped brisket. I’ve only ever had two sides – onion rings and potato salad, and they are great. I’ve considered buying a family size side of potato salad to go – it is that good.
Service is wonderful. All of the servers work together, and we all feel so well taken care of.
They offer a veterans discount, which makes me choose to support them with my business even more.

We live locally and have our choice of local BBQ. This IS our “go to” place. They are friendly, the portions are good, service is fast & smiling, and it is GREAT ‘Q. My only complaint is that they are only open Thursday-Sunday as they work “regular” jobs as well. The place is a gem and deserves the high ratings it gets. Do your taste buds a favor and drive to Loudon.

This a nice, quiet family place down near the river. The food was fair-to-midland, but the service was fast and extremely friendly. The good – Ribs, potato salad, and fried green tomatoes (with lovely dipping sauce). Beans were nothing special. The pulled/shredded pork was extremely dry and chewy and the mac-n-cheese was terribly bland with overcooked, mushy pasta shells. I only finished my coleslaw. Prices were pretty high for the quantity of food, and if you are going to get it served on styrofoam plates, it should be awesome quality food.

1. The BBQ was bland. It was also VERY wet. Like you could probably wring out the water from it and fill up an 8oz glass.
2. The green beans and fries had almost no taste.
3. You couldn’t smell BBQ from the outside. That made me question the freshness of the food.
4. They didn’t have a regural BBQ sauce. Just a very hot sauce and 2 sweet sauces.
5. Minimal and dangerous parking. You had to park on the road and walk across a busy street.
6. The sidewalk was uneven and is probably a lawsuit waiting to happen.
I normally give high reviews on Google but I couldnt give one here. I wouldn’t recomment this place to anyone unless they want to visit for the friendly staff and not food.

Some of the best brisket, ribs, and pork I have had in a long time! The sweet sauce has a hint of honey and smokey flavor. The mac and cheese is shells with white cheddar, which happens to be my favorite kind. The cole slaw is slightly sweet and crunchy. Fantastic service with a laid back atmosphere! I highly recommend this locally owned Bar-B-Q spot in the heart of downtown Loudon!

In the South, it isn’t hard to find a place nearby that serves barbecue. Then there are good barbecue places, just might take a bit more time and require traveling some distance. Sons of Smoke is neither – it is an exceptionally good barbecue restaurant, head and shoulders above the rest. I ordered the sampler plate (3 meats, 2 sides). I chose pulled pork, brisket and 2 ribs with baked beans and mac ‘n’ cheese (cole slaw, potato salad, and fries also options). The plate was loaded, very generous portions of meat and sides. The two ribs were very meaty and it pulled easily right off the bone. Everything was cooked perfectly. If you are a barbecue fan and have the chance to eat here, do not miss it. I really can’t say enough good things about this place – Sons of Smoke is the real deal.
