We traveled to Mexico less than a year ago and were really hoping to rediscover the same authentic flavors we experienced there. We’re happy to say we were not disappointed at all! The food was simply delicious, full of rich and genuine flavors. The portions were very generous, and the staff was absolutely lovely and welcoming. Incredible meal tonight at Desvelados. Food was 10/10 and the best Birria taco I’ve ever had hands down. Meat was tender, well seasoned, tortilla shells were so soft and delicious. The ambience is very trendy and beautiful. My only critique was that they had just one server working the bar and tables. He was very attentive and timely, there was nothing slow about service. As a former server I know how hard that is – had another few tables walked in, it would’ve been too much to manage well.

Before coming here for a late afternoon “heavy snack,” I honestly wondered how this place could have a 4.8 rating on Google. After my first visit, my question completely changed to: who didn’t give it five stars?
The food is truly authentic Mexican, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the service is warm and friendly. It really doesn’t get much better than this. Having grown up in Southern California, I’ve had plenty of great Mexican food, but this restaurant absolutely deserves five stars from me.

Wanted to enjoy some authentic Mexican cuisine. Wife got guacamole and chips and shrimp tacos. I got chicken tacos. Everything was delicious. Food was nice and fresh. In town for Eagles game and would definitely recommend. Senorita Theresa was awesome!

This place is the best Mexican food you will have on the west side! And the ambiance is amazing perfect for a date night or lunch. Fernando was our server and he was very attentive and quick the food was out in no time. Just enough time to play a speed match of Loteria! You will not be disappointed here. The food is fulfilling so start with one item each. The salsa is delicious and flavorful, I’m telling you this place was perfect.

Desvelados In Santa Monica is by far our favorite place to go eat. It’s one of those restaurants you get excited and look forward going because it NEVER fails.

Let me begin with the food! All of my shrimp, steak and guacamole lovers. I highly recommend El Costeno. You can not go there without getting their Asada Fries!!! Trust me!!!

Drink: Alcohol beverages are always on point. My personal favorite is Mango Margarita.
Non Alcoholic beverage, you CANNOT go wrong with their Agua Frescas.

Customer service is ALWAYS amazing!! That’s one of the main reasons we love the one in Santa Monica, we always have the best experience. Thank you!!

This restaurant was INCREDIBLE and gave an UNFORGETTABLE experience to my students who are learning Spanish. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and cared for. Fernando was an absolute superstar. He worked with each student individually, patiently letting them order in Spanish and stepping in with gentle support whenever they needed it. His kindness and enthusiasm made the experience feel both authentic and exciting for the kids.

My students LOVED this field trip. I truly believe it is one they will talk about for years. They were amazed by everything: the vibrant music, the lotería cards at the tables, the warm atmosphere, and most importantly, THE FOOD! Several students told me this was the best meal they had all year. Even my pickiest eaters found something they enjoyed, whether it was an agua fresca, a churro, or a familiar comfort food prepared exceptionally well.

The staff showed incredible generosity. They welcomed two different groups of students on separate days and showed the same level of care to both. One group was even surprised with churros, which completely made their day. Moments like that are what turn a simple outing into a lasting memory.

Thank you, Fernando, for being our superstar, and thank you to the entire team for creating such a special experience for my students. I am so grateful I chose Desvelados over any other restaurant in Santa Monica. Sycamore School sincerely thanks you, and we cannot wait to return!

This is one of the few restaurants I have tried in downtown Santa Monica and not felt some regret for having spent so much for mediocre food. I had the Mar y Tierra roll with pastor and the sinaloa taco. Both of these had wonderful flavors which coalsesced in my mouth.They bring a container with red and green salsas which are both absolutely delicious and have a great depth of flavor, though I preferred the red. A delicious alternative if you are looking for a creative Mexican restaurant that produces extraordinary food.

The singular critique I have is that the tortillas could have stayed more dry; with the big portions the tortilla absorbed a lot
