This place was the alternate because Milagro was closed on my birthday. I was really in the mood for their food so selecting somewhere else to go proved to be quite a challenge. I somehow managed to settle on this place and I’m glad we came here because the food was fantastic!
First up was their take on brussel sprouts. Fried crispy and chock full of bacon to the point that any “healthiness” associated with eating a vegetable was relinquished back in the kitchen. Again, it was my birthday so who cares! These are a don’t miss.
I had their short rib sandwich for dinner. I asked to change it up a little to better suit my preferences and the kitchen accommodated. Had they been unwilling I likely would have ordered something else. I went for straight prov – no Swiss and left off the mushrooms. What I received was a sandwich made for the gods but enjoyed by a mere mortal. I loved pretty much everything about this sandwich. So did kid 2 and she tried to claim half of it…nope – not on my birthday! It was tender and juicy with all flavors discernable and a slight sweetness brought forward by the pickled onions.
The kid ordered their short rib special on our recommendation but didn’t like it very much. She described it as being too much like pot roast. Funny little thing probably never connected the dots to realize it was the same meat as they put in the sandwich she tried to swipe from me.
The wife ordered the pork and dumplings. It became my lunch the next day and was certainly better at the restaurant than out of our microwave.
Dessert was their special bread pudding of the day. I subbed a different ice cream and it was so good that I probably could have eaten two…after all, it was my birthday.

The pretzels were steaming hot and the onion cheese was amazing. The cheese was cool and probably not heated through but it had a great flavor.
The Gnocchi special was extremely hot and very delicious.
The Butchers cut steak and fries were equally amazing. The steak was cooked per order and tender and juicy and perfectly seared. It was served over the steak sauce which gave the savory steak a hint of sweet – which paired up nicely.
The peach crisp and cinnamon ice cream was a great finish to the dinner.
They even made a drink for my wife that was not on the menu.
Service was great. Servers didn’t hover but returned regularly to check on you. We got there ahead of the rush and though they got busy – they still came by to check on us.

The atmosphere is really nice for a casual lunch or date with your partner of choice. The service is OK too. Very attentive wait staff. The food came out and looked appetizing. However, in the end it really missed the mark. My friend ordered the pork rage, and it looked like a babies diaper in a bowl (absolutely gross). According to the diner the taste was even less appealing than it looked. The salmon was good, but they added cheese to my dish when there was not supposed to be any there. For a lactose intolerant person this was unacceptable. I never would have gotten the meal with cheese. What’s upsetting is that I asked as we ordered and was assured there was no dairy products in the meal. The steak was cooked perfectly; however, drowning it in the Heinz 57 sauce was overkill and ruined the flavor of the steak. Our other friend ordered the chicken and despite the ranch and cheese atop of it. The chicken breast was extremely dry. I probably wouldn’t go here for food again. The bartender did make some amazing drinks. That would most likely be the only reason to return.

We eat here often, and it never disappoints. The Block burger I ordered was very tasty!! If I hadn’t known it was a menu regular, I would think it was a chef special. The service was very fast and I love the aesthetic of the restaurant as well. It seems like every burger is carefully composed and the flavors go together really well. The Block salad and Fries were also very tasty. Everything tasted very fresh and delicious.
I always suggested this restaurant to friends for best burgers and steaks!!!

Strolling by at 5pm there was an empty bar; no reservation needed and attentive service from the bartender. Decent selection of music at a reasonable volume. Just right for a solo dinner with a book.
The drinks were well concocted, fried sprouts, crispy chicken sandwich and fries were all quite tasty with the former stealing the show.
Was in for a five-star experience until a couple came in with their three (<12 years old) children and decided they should all sit at the bar while waiting for a table. The youngest repeated wanting "the blue one" over and over while the oldest spilled a full soda. Sure, it's an establishment for all but minors should be turned away from the bar seating.

The block is consistently a good experience and tonight was no exception. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. The bacon jam here is amazing. If you get something and it’s an option to add it, do it. It’s that good. I opted for the burger tonight with a side salad. Filling without being heavy. My spouse had the pork and dumplings. It was rich and really filling. We will definitely be back.

The atmosphere was very nice, I would wear jeans and a polo type shirt. The waiter was very nice we told him we were in a hurry to get to the Muny and he made sure to make sure our food was out quickly. The food was good, we had the burgers. I’ll be back to try something else.

Very HAPPY Happy Hour! What a great which started with Jeremy, our excellent server. Deep understanding of the menu, gave us time to enjoy our cocktails and never felt rushed. The sidewalk table was so comfortable and well spaced, the weather was beautiful, and I was so surprised to see all the activity from people of all ages. Now for the drink and food. I started with an Old Fashioned and it was excellent! My wife had the chardonnay also very nice. We started with the flatbread special that had braised short ribs, then the meatballs with polenta and then the beet salad. Great combination. We finished with the peach/blueberry cobbler. I am looking forward to going back and trying more dishes.

This is a very customer service oriented restaurant that is clean and serves very good food. We had the brisket sandwich and mac and cheese with short ribs. The brisket was amazingly tender though perhaps less lean than ideal, but that’s a tough balancing act. The mac and ribs was wonderful. The meat was tender, moist and delicious. Service was fast and staff was friendly and professional. It was great to see couples, kids, old young…everyone having fun and enjoying meals together. Tables are nicely spaced and there is even nice outside seating, with staff caring for everyone. Prices are really good and servings are generous. The water was also good.
