La Herradura is a hidden gem of authentic Mexican cuisine nestled in the near South eastern area of Evansville, near Barnes and Noble.
The value for your money is crazy, I got their House Special Sampler, two plates of amazing food for $11, never been to a place that gives you as much variety as I had for the price I paid.
The meat is seasoned authentically (just same salt and pepper mainly) so I think that is confusing to some, but it’s truly authentic that way without taco sauce or “taco seasoning” which is americanized versions of Mexican meats.
The food came out quick too, we went during the week and had no issue getting drinks refilled and our bellies stuffed. Will gladly brind others here in the future, not only for the huge portions of food, but for the unique experience here in Evansville.

This how you suppose to make tacos!!! Seasoned , the hot sauce is hot! It’s giving west coast in the Midwest because these mfs hit ! I usually get pork tacos but something told me to get chicken and lawwwwwddddd I couldn’t take a pic of the chicken because I ate them lol.

Huge dining room, huge bar, sturdy seating, weird lighting, decent pricing. Menu easy to read with accurate pictures of each offering. I chose the Molcajete. It was large enough for two hungry or three not-so-hungry people. It had a little bit of everything in a stew. Served with tortillas, one can make a wrap or soft taco out of the meats and veggies. The regular table salsa was too cilantro-y for me. The guacamole was perfect for me: smooth with not a lot of additives and a spicy aftertaste. Recommend.

The people are usually friendly, good food, and good prices. The only issue is tonight I found a hair in my food. I promptly told my waiter, who got the manager. After they watched me pull the hair out of my food, not from off the top. They inspected the hair and said “no it’s white, Mexicans have black hair”. I said I understand that there’s a difference between hair color in different races. The problem is this hair is white and my mom, brother, and myself all have red hair. This hair was very much blonde. After ARGUING with the staff and trying to make a point that this hair was blonde and much to long to be my own and that the problem wasn’t rather or not the hair came from a white person or Latino person but that the hair was not mine and was in my food. They finally agreed to replace the meal after a good five minutes of arguing.
Update: after looking past the hair and enjoying many more meals here tonight we found a screw in our food.

Ordered for the first time from here for carry out. Was really wanting some spinach dip so I ordered some. It’s not spinach dip. It’s queso cheese with a few pieces of spinach in it. Very liquidy and runny with no consistency. Was not impressed at all.

Our wait was great, about 8-10 minutes. We had the lunch special.
The chips are not great, salsa is average.
