Three stars on the service because I waited a good 20 minutes before a waitress came to my table and they were only about 40% full at the time. That said, she was apologetic and attentive once she did take my order. Though when I asked her opinion about one of the dishes, which she said was a very popular item, she said she had never tried it.

I lived in Chicago for the last twenty years, one of the most competitive restaurant markets in the world (or at least it was before COVID, far less so now). I moved to TN two years ago, and I love the place, but my biggest gripe is the lack of good restaurants. There are a handful of okay places to eat, but until I started eating as Wilson’s, “okay” was as good as it gets. If Wilson’s were in Chicago, it would be in my top three go-to restaurants. I would eat there at least once a week.

I have had both their crab cake sandwich and their shrimp and grits. I count myself as a shrimp and grits connoisseur and Wilson’s shrimp and grits are in the top 5% you can find anywhere. The crab cake was excellent, though if I had to choose between the two I’d go with the shrimp and grits.

I ate here a year ago, and while I forget what I ordered back then, I remember being surprised at the high quality in this unassuming little restaurant. The pictures of the dishes online tell the story; everything tastes as good as it looks.

On my last trip, the table next to me asked to speak to the chef so they could tell him how much they enjoyed their meals. I have eaten just about everywhere between Bristol and Damascus and Wilson’s is my favorite.

The food was outstanding! Big city meal in a tiny hiker town. Would never have expected a 5 star restaurant dinner to come from a place that was flanked (literally all in same building) by a subway and a gift shop type of store. The only thing I was disappointed in was that the menu found online showed 8oz sirloin meal at $18. It was actually $26. Still worth it.

She gave great info on specials and their specialties! We were glad for the tips as it was our first time! We will for sure be going back! Excellent all the way around!
Even though they were slammed they were excellent in all areas!

What a treasure in Damascus! We stopped in on our way through from TN and man, we were surprised! Our waitress brought us a “bread flight” shortly after ordering. Italian, cornbread, pumpkin, cinnamon butter…what a start! Then we shared an order of crab cakes. We may be 7 hours from the sea, but these were great! Plenty of meat and an excellent combo when paired with the peach habanero chutney.

Next up came our salads. I came in hungry, but by now I was slowing down. These salads rocked! What could be great a salad? From the crisp arugula, to the fantastic ranch, these were topped with nuts and berries, cheese…all for a 5 star taste.

Our meals came out piping hot. We can’t remember the last time we enjoyed food served straight from the stove. My pork chop was the best part of the meal. Perfectly tender, a fantastic ring of flavor, paired with sweet potato’s and pecans, MMMM!

Took the Virginia Creeper Trail from Abingdon to Damascus and rode around town for a bit before finding this great little café for lunch. The food was amazing—I had the shrimp and grits and they were outstanding.

If you’re visiting Damascus, I would definitely recommend stopping here to eat.

Everything at Wilson’s Cafe and Grill was PERFECT!!! Hospitality, dietary options, portion to price ratio, and the kitchen efficiency all were amazing. The blueberry vinaigrette for my salad was apparently made in house with actual blueberries. The tender sirloin was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and topped with a truffle butter. Vegetable medley and truffles mashed potatoes shared the spotlight with the steak. The shrimp and grits rivaled Magnolia’s or any other low country shrimp and grits! They were absolutely perfect. Unfortunately we only thought to grab pictures of the dessert. The chocolate pie had a rich, almost hazelnut and cocoa flavor, with a consistency that I can only describe as a mix between an airy brownie and mousse. The strawberry shortcake was unlike any that I have ever had. Fresh berries, beautiful cream, and a dense, flavorful layered cake. Damascus is lucky to have such an excellent establishment. Whether you are driving through, or thru hiking the Appalachian Trail, Wilson’s is a must stop!

We visited the Damascus area to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail, before we arrived, we searched out good places to eat. Wilson’s came highly recommended and we gave it a try. A relatively new restaurant, very nicely decorated and with friendly staff and great food. We were seated right away and met with our waitress, Olivia, she was very nice! Once she got our drinks, she brought these two little rolls with some type of cinnamon/honey butter that was delicious. I ordered the Alfredo with Shrimp for $22 which came with a decent amount of shrimp and a piece of toast that was like a Texas style toast. My wife ordered the Chicken Breast (blackened) with a sun dried tomato cream sauce, and a salad for $18. The food presentation was excellent and so was the taste of the food, it was perfect. Our service was perfect as well. We will be back the next time we visit the area.

What a wonderful stop on a recent trip from NC to KY while “avoiding highways.” Google reviews brought us here and we are grateful. Everything was top notch: from the initial greeting, to the attentive server, to the excellent meal! (And, they had NA Guinness, which was a pleasant surprise for the non-drinker in the group, i.e. me!)
