Normally I don’t like sharing my secret spots… but I really want to support the owner

This is honestly one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve had in the U.S. (not fancy one) when it comes to price and quality. Everything feels carefully prepared

I truly believe it’s made by a highly experienced Japanese chef. The attention to detail and politeness here stand out

I’ve been here almost 15 times and still keep coming back again and again

Only one small suggestion
the servers could smile a little more haha!

I stopped by John’s Sushi House recently, and I was really impressed. The place is clean, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff made us feel welcome right away.

I ordered the spicy tuna roll, salmon nigiri, and a shrimp tempura roll—all of them were fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The fish tasted high quality, and the rice was perfectly seasoned.

Even though it’s a simple spot, they take their sushi seriously. just solid, delicious sushi at a good price.

Definitely a place I’d come back to. Great for a casual bite or a chill dinner with friends.

My family celebrated graduation and was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. The service speed and food quality was outstanding. I tried salmon skin salad and Alaska roll sushi , salmon teriyaki lunch and hibachi scallops. It was delicious and fresh. Sushi was well made and flavored right

Very good sushi spot. Went with my wife on a date night and had a great time. The waitress was patient and answered all our questions when we tried to get away from the basic Cali roll. I tried raw sushi for the first time and it wasn’t bad. We did try some of the Cali rolls and they were great and well balanced. Usually you get a bunch of cucumber and a little crab, but not here. Everything was delicious and the staff was great. Check them out.

The service was so disappointing.
Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the server’s name, but she yelled at us and was rude while taking our order and delivering the plates.
It’s unfortunate because they have good food, but the way they treat you doesn’t make us want to come back.

Even when I tried to talk to her, she ignored me and rolled her eyes. Didn’t even apologize for her nasty attitude.
Very unfortunate.

Great food, fresh ingredients, attractive deals, upscale interior, and plenty of parking.

John’s Sushi opened its doors recently and is situated in a remarkable location. The house, completed in 1683, is the oldest surviving historical building in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia’s Northeast. It successively housed the original “Inn”, then “Overpeck’s & Wright General Merchandise, followed by the Old Dutch Kitchen, Old Brauhaus, Blue Ox Brauhaus, Blue Ox Bistro, and, finally, Hop Angel Brauhaus which went out of business during Covid-19 pandemics.

The food is great, the menu is impressively extensive, and John’s Sushi even serves some high-end dishes such as Foie Gras Sushi served with Beluga caviar and edible golden flakes, A5 Japanese Wagyu Nigiri, hard-to-find Uni (sea urchin) rolls, etc.
However, the restaurant also offers amazing deals. For example: any 6 regular rolls are offered at $32.95. Considering that some of the regular rolls are priced at $6.90 a piece, you get almost $9 in savings.

The interior is pleasing with most of the tables featuring booth seating allowing for a better private dining experience.

There is plenty of parking in the back (located toward the corner of Offord Street and Burholm Ave).

Highly recommended.

First time trying here. I went with the spicy shrimp poke bowl with brown rice, along with a sushi order. It was delicious.

I was treated to John’s Sushi House last night for a birthday dinner by my roommate and family. Our server was warm and friendly, and extremely helpful; our dishes were utterly fantastic (try the sushi boat for two; it’s a work of art!). The presentation was wonderful, the aesthetic in this restaurant is always outstanding, and I was glad to see they were quite busy.

We make it a point to visit John’s at least once a month, because we love the staff and the dishes, and they even treated me to a birthday cheesecake with a candle on top! The boat was a favorite, my steak and chicken hibachi never fails to satisfy, and it was just a generally wonderful visit. Five stars every single time we visit; thanks again for another outstanding meal, guys!

The most disgusting sushi I’ve ever had. The rice was overcooked and mushy, there was barely any fish, the pieces were tiny, and they weren’t even made properly. Just a complete waste of $44. Absolutely terrible.
