ZONING OUT ON MUSIC
Once again in fairness I was the Dj at several events at this location, but hopefully they extend the 5 star treatment to all who enter. The food was great. The staff was inviting, and helpful, and the atmosphere from the clean space to the surrounding visuals from the many screens, and fog, helped to make my job all the easier. Great restaurant & venue!

Ordered from this place on DoorDash, and waited two hours to get my food. Kept pushing the time back and back and back and saying ‘Restaurant is preparing your food’ for 1.5 of those hours. Then, finally got my food and it’s some of the worst Mexican I’ve ever had in my life. Ordered the chicken and the steak fajitas and beef tacos, and there is not a SPECK of seasoning anywhere on it. Absolutely flavorless, and the tortillas they gave us are stale and bread-y and flavorless too. Looks like they finally realized how long my order was taking when the Dasher arrived and literally threw hour old food into containers to fulfill it.
Absolutely not worth the money I spent on it, and I’m glad DoorDash at the very least refunded me $10 for my ‘trouble’. Will never order from them ever again.

Loved this place. The drink (mango house margarita) was large and delicious. The chips were fresh and salsa was good. My meal was fajitas insomnia (mix of different fajita meat), DEFINITELY too much food for 1 person or 1 meal. Not a complaint though. Staff was so friendly. And the timing of the food coming out was perfect for us to drink our drinks and work on chips/appetizer. I already want to go back so I can try other things.

Salsa Night at Insomnia Bar and Restaurant
I visited Insomnia Bar and Restaurant at 810 Brookline Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15226, for Latin dance night on Friday, June 14, featuring music by DJs DJ Cumba, Mike David (DJ D’Aço), and Jeff Shirey. This was my first review of the venue, although I have been a regular visitor.
Upon arrival, I was surprised to be searched by armed security at the door, which was a first for me. They also asked to view my identification for entry. While the security personnel were respectful and kind, this new procedure raised some concerns about potential incidents since my last visit. Nonetheless, I appreciate the proactive measures and give 5 stars for their approach to safety.
The venue charges a $10.00 cover per person. Once inside, the dance floor was spacious, and the seating was arranged in a U-shape, which was comfortable and conducive to socializing. We dined on chicken wing dings and tacos, both of which were delicious, earning a solid 4 stars for the food.
However, the lack of fresh air inside the venue was a significant downside. It gets very hot, and the fans only circulated warm air, which didn’t help cool the space. This aspect deserves 3 stars.
While the venue is excellent for dancing and socializing, the music by the three DJs was underwhelming. Despite having three different DJs, the music selection felt repetitive and monotonous. I expected more variety and distinct styles, but it was mostly the same sound throughout the night. Therefore, I rate the music selection 3 stars.
Overall, I enjoy visiting Insomnia Bar and Restaurant for its vibrant atmosphere, great dance floor, and mature audience. However, the DJ’s music selection could use more diversity, and the venue needs better ventilation to improve comfort. Despite these drawbacks, I still recommend Insomnia for a fun night of Latin dancing.

THIS IS THE KIND OF SERVICE YOU GET FROM HERE! This jerk parked so close to my car we couldn’t even open our doors. He parked so close and left scratches across my driver side doors. We had to file a police report. Ruined our entire evening. This explains exactly what kind of service you get.
