Edina’s newest cocktail den comes with a vinyl soundtrack
Reviews
The entrance was a little hard to find (off the main road) – but that’s part of the charm, right?
The vibes were immaculate, to say the least. It was very cozy and warm, but gave like a party you’d see in a 70s or 80s movie. Plenty of seating, but standing and meandering seemed encouraged too.
The drinks were inventive and unique – some citrusy, some spirit-forward, some with ingredients some may have never heard before. They also serve food, and we’ll definitely be back for that!
Great spot, would recommend visiting with a good group.
Noma’s space, with fantastic lighting reminiscent of Minari, one of Chef Del Prado’s other spots, is fabulous. A basement lair, Noma’s takes Edina into a world of sophistication never seen before. I have spent time in Tokyo, and Noma would fit in well in Ginza or Aoyama. While Japanese Hi Fi or LP bars emphasize the sound system and the music being played, Del Prado knows his clientele, and music is more of an affectation at Noma. I hardly heard the tunes, and the staff had no clue about what system was installed. In Japan, that’s an obsession.
Drinks were great, and we loved our gyoza, which we asked to be made extra crispy. The sake selection needs improvement, but I enjoy sake, and most of the Edina faithful will stick to the tried-and-true. The mixologists will be making a lot of Espresso Martinis.
I enjoyed Noma HiFi immensely, and it even motivated me to consider living in Edina. It’s a great cocktail lounge.
The cocktails were absolutely fantastic. We ordered the Standby and Lil’ Fang and both were some of the best cocktails I’ve had recently. Creative flavors, perfectly balanced, and worth the price.
The food was also a highlight. The spicy salmon donburi was recommended by our server and it was incredible. Simple ingredients but perfect execution. We also had the milk bread and it was the perfect snackable plate to share with drinks.
Service was excellent and attentive throughout the night. This is the kind of place you could easily hang out for hours. Perfect for date night or a fun night out with friends. I will definitely be back.
I ordered the Lovecat and it completely blew my mind — unlike anything I’ve ever tasted, in the absolute best way. This is the kind of bar you’ll want to gatekeep… but also tell everyone about.
My two girlfriends and I arrived around 10:15 on a Saturday night. The place seemed busy, but nothing crazy. There were two couples in front of us and a large group that came in behind us. One of the couples said they had been waiting for 15 minutes and were told they couldn’t order a drink while they stood and waited for a table. It took about 10 minutes for us to even be noticed by the host who said “sorry, we’re fully occupied, we can’t seat you”. When we asked if there was a wait or if it was reservation only, they told us it would be an hour wait, which is wild because there were several open tables and people standing up to leave. Then the large group behind us walked up to the front, stood back in line, and somehow were seated within a few minutes. We decided to leave because the whole process started to feel really weird and “exclusive”. As we were leaving, we told a couple walking in that they had told us it was an hour wait. They walked right past us, into the bar, and I watched them get seated immediately.
What awful business practice – especially when we were willing to STAND and still buy drinks. We barely made it through the door and I can CONFIDENTLY say I have absolutely no interest in returning. I’ll take my money across the street to Mr. Paul’s Supper Club (similar vibe, great food and drinks, excellent and kind service).
Everyone in our group loved all of their drinks and the food was delicious. The staff was great with very attentive and quick service. I will definitely be going back and highly recommend noma hi-fi!
