At first, we seriously questioned our decision. My wife asked, “Where are we?” Her friend replied, “It has a 4.9 rating with 200 reviews!” I said, “Hey, sometimes the hole-in-the-wall spots are the best. Let’s give it a shot.”

We were told it’d be a 40-minute wait for food—not a big deal since we had small kids and plenty of outdoor seating. But the smell? Rough. Like roadkill. Not exactly the most inviting first impression.

We were all wondering what we’d gotten ourselves into… and then the food arrived. Suddenly everything changed.

The fries? Amazing.
The hamburger melt? Insanely good.
The cucumber and tomato salad? So fresh and full of flavor.

It was honestly kind of crazy how good it all was. Total redemption.

Overall, 5 stars for a roadside joint. Friendly service (though a bit slow), but if they could get rid of that roadkill smell, the atmosphere would improve dramatically. Still, the food alone makes it worth the stop.

Everything we’ve ever eaten here has been excellent! I had the grilled jerk chicken, and hubby had the pineapple teriyaki burger; both came on a brioche bun, with perfectly crisped fries. All perfectly grilled and amazingly delicious, even down to the flake salt that lent a special gourmet flavor to the spuds.
Con: the sammies were so juicy, we needed extra napkins. DROOL!
I can also highly recommend the fish tacos from a previous visit.

We absolutely loved this place!! The food was incredible. Really fresh, flavorful. Everyone who works there is super nice. The outdoor seating is really cute and was fun even on a cold night.

We had the OG smash burger and citrus and beet salad. Both were spectacular.

We’re visiting from Rochester and are so happy we made the drive, we’ll definitely be coming back.

Thank you very much to the Johnnys Kitchen crew!

Delicious!!! I got the Vermont Panini and it was fantastic. Perfect for the fall weather. My family ordered other sandwiches and we all tried each others and not one was bad. The two workers there today were very kind and great servers. 10/10! This has been our favorite place to eat while visiting Vermont

Definitely my favorite burger I’ve ever had! Highly recommend this place. My husband and I are visiting all the way from Delaware and found this lil restaurant on google on the way to a state park. I got the OG Smash and he got the Bacon Jam Smash (I think) and we were raving about it the whole time, including the fries that were great. Definitely worth the price for the portion sizes, just wish I could’ve finished mine but held back because we’re about to go hiking lol. Would definitely go back if we’re ever up here again!!

I love Johnny’s! Good people, delicious food, and reasonable prices. I first started going to Johnny’s for the brunch, but lunch (and dinner) is just as good. There’s also an option to ice cream after, since part of it is a full on ice cream stand… but I go for the food. One of the best spots on the east side of Seneca Lake.

The absolute BEST sammys we’ve had. We shared the bacon sammy and the Lodi hot chicken sandwich. The bacon Sammy had the egg that oozed pure deliciousness with the flavor of the pickled Jalapeños! We will make sure to come back when we are visiting the area again.

Dine in- wonderful experience! The food was just amazing. The quality and flavor were just stunning. One person had an omelette- eggs were melt in your mouth perfect, two others had the French toast and I enjoyed the shrimp n grits. The shrimp were cooked just right, cheesey smooth grits and smoky tomato sauce with notes of Louisiana creole flare. Will 100% come here again!

Holly cow this is a hidden gem!

If you’re on a brewery / wine tour this is a must stop for one of the best smash burgers out there. Looks like just an ice-cream stand, but it’s so much more!

Several sandwich options available (all of which looked great), but they have something special going with their smash burger.

The ‘Smash Burger’ is a juicy, “smash style” burger with the perfect seasoning blend (think Five Guys but so much better). I doubled it (2nd patty) for $3 – SO worth it – This may be the best burger I’ve ever had (and I will travel for a good burger). Just a perfect burger. Gooey cheese fills the crisp, yet juicy patty, a fresh, flavorful tomato and shredded lettuce, yes SHREDDED LETTUCE (there should be some sort of law standardizing this style of lettuce for a burger or sub). If I had room for another I would have gotten one. Half way through my burger I said I couldn’t wait to make it back for another!

Dinning partner got the “patty melt” and said it was the best they’ve ever had (sautéed onions, jalapeños and a garlic mayo on grilled toast) – honestly, for a patty melt – it was extra special.

About 40 mins from Ithaca and if it was closer, my waist line would be in serious trouble. If you’re a burger person, treat yourself. Very fair prices to downright cheap for what is basically a farm-to-table restaurant (they even list the farms the source from).

If it’s your first time – it’s attached to an ice-cream stand on it’s left and it’s easy to think that’s all that’s there while driving – the kitchen is a little back and to the right of the ice-cream stand (when looking from the road / on the west/lake side of 414).
