Since moving to Sacramento about 10 years ago I’ve been looking for a place with good Mexican food. So far this place has some of the best Chile Rellenos I’ve had in Sac. I’ll be back to see about the Chile Colorado and Chile Verde.

The overall flavour was rather bland, and the salsa served with the complimentary crisps tasted like slightly spicy water. The onions in the burrito were large and half-raw, not cooked through, showing little consideration for the diner. The tortilla also had uneven cooking. While the portions were very large, paying over $40 for two dishes and one drink was not the price one would expect for Mexican food. A positive point was that the restaurant’s music was quiet and not intrusive.

This is a hidden gem in Sacramento. Wonderful people, great atmosphere and fantastic food. If you’re in the area, don’t miss it. They also have live music Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30. LOVE this place!

Xochimilco is a longstanding Sacramento Mexican restaurant that just hits the spot sometimes! The service is very attentive, the food is flavorful, and dishes have large portions. I ordered something that wasn’t on the menu— a quesadilla with steak ranchero inside— and not only did they not blink an eye about accommodating me, it was absolutely delicious!!! There was plenty to take home later, even! I love that they have homemade tortillas, too. The restaurant itself might not be much to look at, but the flavor and value of an excellent meal experience is worth the trip!
