The Pub – Downtown is a good go-to when you want a relaxed spot to grab a drink and some straightforward pub food. The vibe is casual, the patio setup is a nice bonus in good weather, and it’s an easy place to meet friends without feeling rushed. Service was friendly and the order came out reasonably fast. Not fancy, but comfortable, local, and reliable for an easy night out.

Thrilled they have foosball tables in here now! Staff is super nice. Great food (pastrami egg rolls, yes!) and Irish Pub vibe. Lots of big screens to watch the game and my favorite beers are on tap (Alstadt!).

Just arrived in Austin and it was a bit late 9pm. Many places were closed/closing. We weren’t looking for fancy or expecting a lot, just simple pub fare. My husband’s burger and the Irish fries were mediocre. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was pretty much inedible. Red cabbage swimming in waaay too much buffalo hot sauce covered a piece of chicken about 1/4 inch thick and 1 1/2 inches wide.
When I questioned if it was even chicken the server ran off with no intrest in hearing what I might think about it. She did not return. She spent her time chatting with the other staff and engrossed with her phone, until another staff (also on her phone) looked up and saw we were ready to leave. When we asked for the bill we were told they can’t print them and had to go to the bar.
Upon paying my husband asked what the $9.20 service charge was for. She said she didn’t know. After reading some comments I understand it was an automatic tip. She knew, she lied. I understand now, why these staff are not hustling at all. They are getting an automatic tip, so they don’t care.
The decor is the only thing worthy of any stars at all.
If you find yourself looking for a bite to eat in Austin after 9, just give this one a pass and keep looking.

Our family visited The Pub for dinner. Our fault for not looking but there was no kid menu so we paid a little more for their food and limited options for them. We had fish tacos (very good), hot chicken sandwich (very good), fish and chips (my son wasn’t a fan but I liked it), their only burger (was okay), and then corn dogs (surprisingly good). Not busy at all, service was good (but had to go to the bar to request our bill), just wish there were some more food options.

I’ve been here before on my lunch HOUR. Today, it’s obvious that the back of house was taking their lunch break too. After waiting almost 25 minutes for the great fish & chips, I asked the bar tender to cancel my order because, gee, my lunch HOUR was almost done. Hey I get most people on a Friday have time to kill in the afternoon, but some of us work and we don’t have all afternoon to wait for an order to come out. Very disappointing because the food is very good.

Came in was told to grab a seat. Food was good. Waitresses just on their phone too much to pay attention to our needs of water refill and salt. Asked for a recommendation, and the waitress just said I don’t know and blank stare. I dunno if all I had was the one table and my livelihood depened on my tips, I might want to pay better attention to my one table. It would have been 5 stars but the customer service was in the toilet.

Fantastic, outstanding 10/10. Bar staff here is top notch. I came to visit austin for the first time and just kept coming back to this place because of the staff. Great draft beer selection but….. I have to say I love how welcoming friendly the bartenders were. Thanks for the delightful time. Everyone should stop by and say hi.

On our trip to Austin, we stopped by The Pub for some bar food, drinks, and college football—had a great time. So much so that my husband and I went back the next day to watch the Chargers game. Unfortunately, the experience was very different. The bartender refused to switch even one TV to the game, despite the place not being busy and several TVs in the back not being used. He wouldn’t even discuss it and just walked away. Very disappointing and rude.
