This place was absolutely amazing! We got a sub on a pickle and a regular sub as well to try them both out. The regular sub was amazing, cold cuts sliced nice and thin and very fresh. Bread was soft and perfect. Now on to the pickle sub.
I was worried it would be overwhelming or feel like it was lacking something, hence why we also got a normal sub as well. However, it was amazing. The pickles were nice and crunchy and fresh, and actually tasted really good with the cold cuts. A good keto option if you don’t eat carbs, and the fun and excitement of a pickle sub definitely doesn’t make you feel like you’re missing out on the bread!
The service was super quick and the atmosphere was nice.

The best sub shop at the Jersey Shore!! My Aunt Barbara and Uncle David loved this spot as kids so this place holds a special place in my heart. The subs are always fresh!! My favorite is the Pickle Sub!!

How on earth have I not reviewed Elsie’s subs before?! Even though I live in Florida now, Elsie’s is a must visit for me any time I’m in NJ. Their Turkey cranberry is just absolutely perfect. Bread is perfect, ratio of meat to toppings is perfect – even the hole in the wall look of the restaurant is perfect! They also have a great selection of chips and drinks to go with their wide menu of subs. It is a cash only place and you generally will have to park in the large paid city parking lot behind the store. But seriously – if you are anywhere near Red Bank, go out of your way to stop in at Elsie’s.

This is a cute little hidden gem in Red Bank. We drive 2 hours from NYC just to come here all the time. You have to try the pickle subs! Ingredients are always fresh. Prices are good. The owner is as sweet as can be. Support your local sub shop!

I always said the greatest sandwich in the world is a Pastrami with mustard on Rye from Katz’s deli in Manhattan. Elsie’s number 15 with the works on a pickle gives Katz a run for their money. 10/10 love everything about the place

Elsie’s used to be a regular lunch spot for me when I worked in town.
It’s been about 10 years since I left Red Bank and maybe 6 years since my last visit to Elsie’s but it’s still as good (maybe even better) than I remember.
I had a half sloppy Joe and a half Italian and my wife had turkey and provolone. We also got the potato salad and antipasto. Everything was incredible.
Hopefully it won’t be another 6 years before I can get back.

Was walking down the street one day and noticed this little sub shop and knew I had to try it. I’m glad I did!
There were about a half dozen people in line and everyone got their orders in no less than five minutes. I ordered a tuna sub and it was terrific. The quality and freshness of the ingredients really stood out. The staff is super friendly and inviting; they clearly take pride in their work and making sure the customers have a great experience.
Will definitely be coming back!!!
