We come to Iowa occasionally. Saw this place multiple times and thought we’d stop. Burgers (sorry) but were just ok. Fresh made patties are what we expected. Buns were toasted (nice extra touch)and tomato slice was nice size. We got fried cauliflower, it was just ok. Breading could be better. Fries were good! We wish we would have gotten a shake!
Girl who took our order and brought our food is a gem! Sweet girl, appropriately social. If she hadn’t been there not sure if my rating would have changed.
Atmosphere was really fun. Very nice old fashioned appeal.
We would have bought a sweatshirt but they only had short sleeved t-shirts.
We did purchase 2 of the surprise books. I loved the idea and all the extra touches that made them special ❤️ I’m using them for gifts for 2 of our granddaughters for valentine’s day presents.
My marketing brain would love to see a soda bar where people could eat at the counter or booths. Cute dishes for ice cream and soda glasses. Do the back wall floor to ceiling with place to hang up all t-shirts shelves for hats and gift ideas. Re- imagine the whole space. Cute outside of the building!
Thanks for sharing your fun little stop.

So happy to stumble upon this gem. I saw the sign on I80 with just enough time to take the exit. It’s a wet dreary day on our way back to Minneapolis. This was just the “BREAK” we needed( sadly the brake we really need is for RUTH. But this will do). Quirky , nostalgic with delicious smells permeating the air. We were excited to give it a try. The place was packed when we pulled up. The friendly staff made quick work of the line. I ordered a double cheese with bacon to share with #Romeo. Super cute shop inside with a few gifts( books, t-shirts, postcards). I’ll return to rent an rv slip some time. Special thanks to Kaitlin??? (With a K) for trying to help me find the correct size shirt and 5 star service. #youshouldbehere #ITSaDOGsLife #burgersandfries

I really enjoy the burgers and they cook the cheese curds just right. Excited to try other menu options in the future. I had the quarter pound burger today and it was excellent. Paired with the cheese curds it was a perfect amount of food. Will definitely stop in again!

What a very cute place to stop for a visit! There is even outside seating to enjoy nice days or to enjoy ice cream on the hot days. Inside is charming and has the old school 1950’s feel. All that is missing is the soda fountain, but they have quite a few different ice cream flavors! Employees are extremely friendly and helpful.
I got a bacon cheeseburger with cheese curds and it’s very tasty and the price was not bad. My husband got a sherbet which was also delicious. I also came across blind date books and picked one up. Absolutely love the packaging!
Also there are a few truck friendly spots!

Shrimp for dinner tonight, (normally Friday nights for us) at Iowa’s Best Burger Cafe, gas station and campgrounds, located on I-80 at the Kellogg exit, just a few minutes East of Newton. In fact it’s only 9 minutes from my driveway to theirs. The service is always fast and friendly, with a relaxed atmosphere. It really doesn’t matter what you order, everything they offer is off the charts in goodness. I never in my life thought I would ever eat shrimp at a gas station but this cafe is clearly the exception. Our meals have been consistently superb each and every time for the last 40 or so visits. I’ve eaten their tenderloins and hamburgers, fries and the other sides and again they are always consistently excellent, knocking it out of the park each and every time. The western salad dressing is made in house and so tasty (way better than store bought) I purchased a bottle for home use. Just ate a burger Thursday and used their new in house made Best Burger Sauce, to say that was awesome would be a huge understatement, am going to ask If if they will sell me a bottle of that for when I grill burgers at home. This is one of our very favorites when we are hungry which is often, prices are quite reasonable as well.
If your hungry or even if your not I give Iowa’s Best Burger Cafe my highest recommendation. We totally love this place and its owner and staff.

Neat little spot to grab a quick, delicious bite! But not only were the burgers great, so was the ice cream! Also came across these books that were cutely wrapped; grabbed 2 for both my daughter and I ☺️

The food is pretty much what you get from any distributor however my burger was assembled well and they’re flame broiler is perfectly dialed in. It was a good burger about a 7.6/10 the fries are frozen crinkle cut but had a nice crunch outside and fluffy inside the ranch however that is where everything g took a turn it almost tastes home made its definitely not your run of the mill cheap ranch. Overall the atmosphere is nice and service was amazing greeted with smiles and the level of energy I can actually deal with first thing in the morning total score 8.4/10

We’ve driven by this place a million times every time we go out east. We’ve always been curious. Stopped by kind of late on our way home, exhausted from a big event. So this was a great little local place to take a breath from our day. It was awesome. The burger was good, the cheese balls were damn good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Little boy ate his WHOLE burger! (That’s big news for a picky eater). Our teenager chuckled at the bathroom, but we told her that’s a workin mans way of life sometimes. Some of these reviews are amusing. You can tell what kind of people they are. You want a burger with fries and pickle chips with ice cream from a gas station, this is your place. Don’t expect truffle fries or aoli with organic lettuce. I recommend this place if you’re tired from your long drive and want a decent meal that’s not fast food. Or heck grab an ice cream to go for the wife. Yes she will thank you, we love ice cream… and pickle chips.
