I found this place to be really good despite the interior feeling a little bleak. First they have indoor and outdoor seating. The space of the dining room inside is a little awkward as you can’t see the entire dining space.

The service was pretty quick and few little mistakes here and there but nothing major. But the food was great. They have excellent onion rings and really well seasoned fries. My sandwich was cooked very well. They have an LOP sandwich that my table spent forever trying to guess what it was- lettuce onion pickle? Nope- Lake of the Pines obviously!

Will definitely return.

Our food was delicious! I got the breakfast chorizo tostada and it was phenomenal. Hubby got the chicken fried steak and ate every bit of it! I had a bite and it was flavorful and cooked perfectly. My son had a Mickey Mouse pancake with an egg and bacon and it was great as well

Absolutely love it here! Outdoor seating with my dog, best bloody mary I have ever had (and I have had a lot). Osbaldo our server was sooooo nice and our food was fresh, hot and delicious. I had the French dip and onion rings/french fries–it was amazing! Their menu is big, and everything sounds great. We came on a whim Sunday morning and hardly anyone was there. They were missing out. Come try this place!!!

With all of the five star reviews, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The fajita salad was just okay. The salad was beautifully presented, but there was no flavor and the dressing was overly spicy. I do not recommend sitting at the bar. Since we had to wait at least 20 minutes for our order to be taken. The atmosphere is bright Walmart lighting meets greasy spoon cafe. I would recommend updating the restaurant and having servers that communicate with their customers.

SHORT VERSION:
A little pricey, but excellent food, service, and atmosphere made it worthwhile.

LONG VERSION:
I love finding out-of-the-way diners and trying them out. Sunrise is one of those places. It’s in a neighborhood strip mall tucked a mile off the main highway through this part of the world, stuck beside a hardware store and an empty grocery market (but sharing parking with the local library branch). There were indoor and outdoor seating areas, both clean, and both busy.

I had no wait, despite the late-morning Saturday crowd. There seemed to be both indoor and outdoor tables available the whole hour I was there, but the customers kept coming constantly.

Withing two minutes of being seated, there was water and a menu before me. The server watched closely enough to be there to take my order just after I set down the menu. I ordered a strawberry waffle combo, one of my favorite breakfast orders during a first visit to any diner.

I figured I’d get some work done while I waited, but by the time I had my keyboard paired to my tablet (about 7 minutes) the food hit the table.

The waffle was perfectly done and there were a good number of strawberries on it. Also, four towers of whip cream – not too much! Sadly, whip cream from a can, but getting “proper” cream is an oddity these days. This was just fine.

My egg was scrambled and done right. The bacon I had requested crispy was crispy, but not burned. Breakfast was great!

One funny thing. There was a parsley garnish, I think. I found it under the bacon. It was a sprig about half the size of a dime. Now, that’s as much parsley as anyone needs, but it was humorous to see it hiding under there.

Everything was excellent. My only less-than-perfect note was that meal and tax (I had no drink but the water) came to $22 which is high for me. It was good enough I didn’t mind, but it is expensive enough it won’t be a regular haunt.

Good work, Sunrise Cafe!

Small breakfast place hidden in the corner. The food wasn’t too bad. The orange juice tasted like it was cut with something other than water to thin it. The pancakes were good and the Veggie Omlette I got was okay. The servers were very friendly, and the service was quick.

Ok, so I came here twice this week. The 1st time Google, yelp and sign in front of the place said they were open. When I arrived, they were closed. Wasn’t thrilled with that so gave them a 1 star rating. I think I was a little hangry. So I decided to give them another try, this time I called ahead to make sure they were open. So this is my this my revised rating/ review.

So this was my first time eating here and right away I could tell this was a family run business. Which I really like. You tend to get better results. I should add, I visited mid week, so not sure if my experience would be typical for a weekend. Anyway, I was seated right away, which was good, because I was hungry.

This place has lots of great breakfast choices, so it was tough choosing. I ended up getting Liz’s Scramble and a pancake. I did ask for the hollendaise sauce on the side because I wasn’t sure I felt like having it. I normally like a spicy breakfast, so I also got a side of salsa.

Everything was great, the food, the service, the portions and the price! All this for $20, with tip, that’s a winner. Side note, I recently reviewed a place in Grass Valley that didn’t get such a great rating. Btw, look at the picture of the pancake here vs that place in GV. That right there says it all.

Anyway, I highly recommend this place. I’m new to the area and this place will be one of the first places I think about when I want to eat out for breakfast.

So yummy! My “ pancakes connoisseur” grandson say they have the best pancakes ever. My gravy-snob husband said the gravy was incredible. I adore the Monty Cristo- topped with fruit. The people are down-home- yes-I-can-do-that folks. And the red and white checkered ambiance is charming. Go!
